You said the game was out 2 years, it's been less than one.
You respond with "blah blah pointless" when you're wrong about what they've done with the money and development.

"Dean Hall intends to leave developer Bohemia and step down as leader of his hit video game DayZ by the end of the year ... I'll always be involved with it; there's no way to escape it."

Octopuss is right, it isn't worth arguing at this point.

Anyway, I do agree that the game is broken in its current state. But it is an Alpha, they've explicitly said there are some things they can't/won't fix until Beta, because the architecture is still a moving target.

I think they are aiming too high in some respects which is what is slowing down development and making people lose faith. Currently adding animals and farming seems to be of higher importance than vehicles and base mechanics which is sorta strange.

You said the game was out 2 years, it's been less than one.

I also said 1.5 years "or whatever" which was obviously an estimation, a guess, but that doesn't factor into your stupid argument. You immediately take nothing but the extreme number provided, ignore the fact that it was a guess or an estimation, and attack me for it.

You're DESPERATE to white knight this and argue with me and it shows.

Sad, really.

You respond with "blah blah pointless" when you're wrong about what they've done with the money and development.

Oh, right, I forgot how fast they fixed the game and how the game is complete now with no bugs.

Yep, ignore the fact that they're too busy adding different colored shirts instead of fixing the AI, the loot system, the bugged collision, zombie pathing, the whole freaking game.

Yep, I'm totally wrong. You're right! The game is flawless right now!

...and they'll never bother getting to beta. They've already taken their money. Rocket traveled the world once he had his money. He threw his hands up and said F-it I'm paid I don't have to make an effort anymore.

Yeah, Octopuss is right that this isn't worth arguing about at this point.... which is why you're still here arguing about it at this point. :awe:

Oh keep in mind that they're not even going to bother with cars and trucks and helicopters. The only vehicle they intend on adding is the BICYCLE.

They have been working on the Standalone since summer 2012.The standalone today is nowhere near what the mod was back then.Anyone expecting a polished, legitimate retail release within the next 3 years are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

They are frankensteining one of the worst engines in modern gaming. This should be enough to scare you away and deter high expectations from the standalone.

I understand people holding on that Rockets original vision will one day be realized.I had alot of fun with the mod and had high expectations for the Standalone, but this isn't 2012 anymore.

Rocket sold out to Bohemia (not a bad thing,I would of done the same thing) and cashed out.He has little to nothing to do with the direction of the game and hasn't for a long time.Bohemia already made a boat load of money off of DayZ with all the extra arma 2 purchases along with the Alpha. They have zero pressure.DayZ will always be held back by the god awful Arma engines.

It doesnt matter if they finish it.Bohemia fans despise DayZ for the most part and dont care. The rabbid DayZ fans think the Standalone is the greatest thing ever as it is.If you go on the forum they tell you thats its nothing short of a miracle in what they accomplished. They are in for a reality check when they try and release it on PS4.No way Sony is going to let this turd on there.Steam will sell almost anything, there's actually some quality control on the consoles.Minecraft got denied at the last minute because Sonys testers found some issues,it wont take very long with DayZ.

i feel like the development is starting to pick up steam lately... adding a lot of major new mechanics and items. i don't play very often any more but i feel like almost every time i come back to this game there's something new/different.

however i'll definitely concede that this game isn't everyone's cup of tea

You're an epic troll.
Show me where you said "or whatever"?
I was correcting the misinformation, which you were wrong about on every point.

Nice straw man. Show me where I said it's flawless? I've said I wasn't happy with it and that it's broken. I think they're aware that they've lost half their playerbase over the year.

Also you clearly know how game development works. So you want the same guys who create art and objects in the game fix things like AI? Or are you saying you want the artists to sit on their hands until the engine guys are done?

...and they'll never bother getting to beta. They've already taken their money. Rocket traveled the world once he had his money. He threw his hands up and said F-it I'm paid I don't have to make an effort anymore.

Now you're claiming that not only did Rocket step down (according to you, which we've already proven wrong) he traveled the world with his money? I'm assuming your making a reference to his long planned Everest trip? Which he took in May 2013, 7 months before the games Alpha release?

Oh keep in mind that they're not even going to bother with cars and trucks and helicopters. The only vehicle they intend on adding is the BICYCLE.

This is laughable. Seriously where do you come up with this stuff? Would love to see your sources. Here's some direct from the dev team about vehicles last week...

https://vine.co/u/1021028573576056832

"Vehicles.
As nearly everyone is looking forward to them so I would like to disclose the current status of them a little. Vehicles implementation in the engine itself like handling, physics and other parts was completely written from scratch. We (design) finally got our hands on them as the programmers finished their work on basic needs and they will continue further with their work in parallel with ours. So far we have a driveable V3S with basic configuration in game along with some basic controls and our main focus now is to bring the initial implementation to the public as soon as possible."

Mike4 -

Totally agree, they seem to be a bad example of feature creep. For example I could live without the farming and temperature mechanics. But I think that is stuff that Rocket wanted in his vision of a "survival" game, rather than how the Mod turned out. I'm skeptical of whether it will pan out that way. It will probably be more interesting to see what the mod community will do with it when they eventually ever open it up.

It sounds like little has changed from when I played standalone last year.

I'd count standalone as one of my worse purchases, but I'm not really butthurt about it. I had pretty low expectations of what I was going to get and it simply did not exceed them.

That said, the zombies were horrible and are easily the weakest point of standalone. I think the AI was working slightly better for them in the mod. The glitched through walls all day and there were so few of them. I will say that they looked cool and their new animations were creepy and cool. If they could fix those so there were more of them and they behaved correctly I think the game would be fun even in its incomplete state. I'm a bit surprised that it sounds like this hasn't even improved?

I got the early access version and I played it for maybe 20 minutes until I got so fed up with zombies clipping through walls and killing me that I rage uninstalled and havent played since.

Yeah I'm not sure how the zombies were but they move a lot better than DayZ mod(big mod player here). I read they are about to increase the zombie speed in an upcoming patch.

I prefer donating to a server in arma 2 dayZ and being armed to the teeth on spawn. I just like PVP feeling in the arma games. I just hope this breaks out of alpha one day. Oh well.
