That works out to over one and a half hours of anytime minutes every day!

Wow... I have never seen that many minutes for under $50 a month. I'm thinking of ditching Sprint for this plan....

Did a search, and didn't see this previously posted.

I did a search and came up with 1 or 2 previous threads.

Anyway, people say T-Mobile (Voicestream) uses Cingular equipment, so coverage should be comparable to Cingular, and it's not that great here at UCLA (it's pretty good in Torrance though). <shrug>

t-mobile has horrible coverage in california

I used it in northern California (near Sac) area for a while, and now I've been using it in the west LA area. So far so good. Get full bars in almost all places, far better than my friends with Sprint and stuff. Except indoors I usually loose reception, but the guy told me thats because of the waves that GSM travels on...something like that. They don't penetrate walls all that well?

Overall, I'm glad I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile. Great reception in all the places I've been.

i live in the bay area and the T mobile coverage isn't bad at all. Actually, I think cingular really improve its own network alot in these couple months. With the V.60 phone. Now, I can receive phone call when i in the library's basement level. So, the service is good to me.

If you live in MAryland/DC/Virginia, stay away. Cingular service is horrible around here with many dropped calls. Also, do they charge you for the first incoming minute? don't know about coverage anywhere else though. I called SprintPCS and bought one of their new Color screen phones with Vision. I was able to buy the phone for $89 after a $100 rebate!! Good luck.

Before everyone gets too excited: This is a REGIONAL plan, without long distance. So, you can't call outside of your home area without paying long distance. Likewise, you can't make calls FROM outside your home area without paying LD AND ROAMING either.

For the so cal market, this is 3000 minutes only, no nites, no weekends, no long distance, no roaming outside of CA/NV. And this expires Sept 8th.

I just signed up with T-mobile about a week ago. The coverage has been pretty decent where I live (NE Ohio) so far. But the main reason I went with T-mobile is because I needed a phone for international travel. Their rates seemed to be about as good or better than Nextel's from what I saw. I have yet to use the phone overseas so I have no clue how good the coverage will be. The plan I signed up for was 600 anytime minutes and unlimited weekends for $39.99. Long distance and nationwide roaming (only on their network) are included. The phone I got was the Motorola V60...$100 after rebate.

Yeah that's what sucks about this plan is NO FREE LONG DISTANCE (except for within your home region) and NO ROAMING ... I could live without roaming since 99% of the time I'm in the metro area ... however free long distance is nice to have.

Much better off going with their 600/min national plan, and paying the extra $6.99 for unlimited nights (and weekends).

That gives you 600 anytime mins, unlim nights and weekends, for $45.99, with no long distance or roaming anywhere.

from their plan:
Whenever, Wherever in the US
The National Plan gives you:
One flat rate per month
Calls to anywhere in the country with GSM coverage
Calls from anywhere in the country with GSM coverage
No long distance or digital roaming charges

Regional Rate Plans offer:
Calls to and from anywhere within this region--you pay no long distance or roaming charges
Calls made from within the region to outside the region incur long distance charges
Calls made from outside the region incur long distance and roaming charges

Just get national, not regional
national

Sprint is pretty bad in MD/VA too...and Sprint charges for the first incoming minute.

Hello all,

I would like to add a couple of my comments regarding T-mobile/Voicestream

Back in the days when Omnipoint was around, 1999, I signed up for, at that time, the only GSM service available in my area, Michigan. Our only "competition" at that time was PacBell, which was actually more of a complement as they provided us services in the West.

I had ATTWS before I joined Omnipoint and while their prices are higher than the rest, the coverage was very good. I was able to get service in the middle of the Nevada and California desert.

You WILL NOT get that with GSM service. However, I went with Omnipoint/Voicestream/T-mobile because of my international travel and I do not go to rural areas that often.

I have had no complaints so far for the past 3 years

Not just California....they've had this plan in Chicago for almost a year.

As for v-stream having bad coverage in Chicago (and possibly elsewhere)- I used to have the Motorola T193 "el cheapo". I hated Voicestream for bad connections, dropped calls and such. And my friends who went for the Nokia "el cheapo" they offered at the time also had the same complaints.

I decided to buy the P280 Motorola recently, swapped the SIM card, and the RF performance is like night and day! My friends that are still having problems are now looking into upgrading their phones.

Just a thought....

I signed up a few months ago with Tmobile/voicestream in So. Orange Co. CA and I love it! Much better coverage, and quality over my former carrier (Worldcom) and great customer service! I'd recommend them highly. I don't have nearly as many dropped calls and can get reception in areas that I couldn't previously.
