This always happens. There are always more people who just think "indie" music is cool rather than actually like it.

They did the same in Chicago a couple years back replacing Energy 92.7 & 5 with a crappy latin station with no warning.
Just goes to show you how the corporate radio peeps don't care about what *WE* want to listen to, they just want what they can make the most money off of on the short term.

well, there's been nothing "indie" about HFS for a decade. the only thing (music format-wise) that HFS had going for it was that it played Nickelback and Creed slightly less than DC101, and never played the 80's cheese that 98Rock still holds dear. i will miss the Junkies in the morning and Loveline at night, but the Junks are reportedly moving back to JFK and another local station may pick up loveline. what i really miss, though, is the HFS of the early 90's

Was it really that bad at the end? I stopped listening a long time ago, only because the daytime songs were all completely mainstream, and the cool weird DJs left. I assumed they still aired new and local bands at night. Guess I was wrong : (

Now that I think about it, this only slightly more scarring than WCXR (Classic rock) becoming Smooth Jazz 105.9.

Do you guys have any college stations to listen to? We've got one here in Omaha (well, it's actually in Iowa), but you'd never know it by the music they play. They sound basically like any typical crappy rock station owned by a major company.
I always thought college stations were supposed to play stuff you wouldn't be able to hear on regular commercial stations.
