DDR mobo or no?

I have decided to upgrade my p3 to an AMD chip. Now all I want to know if it is worth it to get the mobo with DDR ram support or not. If I decide to get the DDR ram, it will cost my approx. 250 dollars more then if I used the normal mobo.

I have decided on the Iwill KK266 or KA266.

What does everyone think?

Personally, I'd forgo DDR and just go with a SDR mobo with 266fsb support. Most of the (real-world) performance increase from DDR mobo's comes from the 266mhz fsb. So I think u'd rather spend less $$ and time getting SDR mobo's for the 1-2fps diff in games.

So KT113a mobo's are in.

Agreed...

DDR motherboards are still too young to be truly effective. The technology is still new and the bugs are still numerous.

If you're in the market NOW for a new system, then it would be a good idea to stick with a SDRAM board. But if you have the patience to wait, then keep an eye out for the newer boards when they hit the streets. DDR will be the way to go in the near future...but just not yet.

If you really want DDR you should get AMD760, ALi doesnt seem to be too good and KT266 is simply not ready.

get a K7 Master from MSI if ur going AMD760

I say now that prices on DDR SDRAM are reasonable go for DDR if you can.
