Sorry in advance if this is a lame question but,

I got a stick of PNY memory 256mb DDR cheap some time ago (label shows DDR266) on the stick shows 32WKD STK 5179864.

I'd like to get another to match it - but on pricewatch.com I don't see DDR266 - only reference to PCXXXX (e.g. PC2100, PC3000).

Is DDR266 not around anylonger or is it just a labeling mismatch.

thanks

buy the way, I want to put this memeory on a shuttle AK32VN
and play around with OCing.

ddr266 *is* pc2100

2100 is the bandwidth it has - 2.1gb/sec, obviously 266 is its effective frequency

thank you

Looking at Pricewatch, for what PC2100 256 cost - for $5 more I can get "256MB PC3200 (400MHz) DDR Memory - 184 Pin Module - True 400MHz -Not clocked2700 - LIFETIME WARRANTY"

Doesnt make sense to PC2100, unless mixing the two will cause problems

Yes, mixing the 2 will cause problems. Altho the PC3200 might run properly at the 266Mhz speed of the slower PC2100 chip.

Why would mixing them cause problems? I know there is some old SDRAM that won't run at lower speeds, but I didn't know there was any DDR RAM that wasn't capable of clocking down. There could be an issue with different timings in the chips causing you to use the least-common-denominator timings, but I would at least think it would run.

What I meant was that it sure won't be running at 400Mhz, but probably will run at the 266Mhz of the PC2100.
