If I have a DDR board (Abit K7V KT133A) and a DDR Thunderbird then do I have to get DDR ram or will PC150 work?

Okay... There're two things that are DDR in this world (available to most consumers).

DDR memory, and DDR FSB.

Your Athlon and KT133A board supports DDR FSB. Meaning that yes, you can use a DDR FSB T-bird (or as you'd call it, a DDR Thunderbird), and yes, you can couple that up with PC150 memory, although you won't be able to use anymore than 133 Mhz of that 150 unless you overclock your FSB (or is it asyncronous?).

DDR memory on the other hand needs a mobo that supports it (ie: FIC AD11). But you're not concerned with that if you have an Abit K7V.

does RTFM mean anything to u?

heh j/k, but normally the manual from your motherboard states what kind of RAM your mobo uses..

if you didn't know, DDR SDRAM has just NOW begun to be utilized on motherboards, but only ones that are using a certain chipset that supports DDR SDRAM.

for the Athlon, the only chipset out right now that supports DDR SDRAM, is the AMD 760 chipset.

the board you are using doesn't have an AMD chipset first of all, it uses a Via based one.

There's your first clue!

second, the name of your board specifically mentions the name of that Chipset, the Via KT133A, which is popular because of the fact that the FSB is now easily moved up to 133mhz, therefor overclockers can do that without worry of damaging other components, because this chipset allows everything else to run at normal speed while the FSB moves up to 133mhz.

hmm... the K7V is a motherboard made by ASUS and based on the KX133 chipset (slot-A)

Your motherboard is probably an Abit KT7A based on the KT133A chipset (socket-A) which supports pc133 (or pc150) ram and cpus with either 200mhz or 266mhz fsb. AFAIK, Abit doesn't have a DDR motherboard out yet, so you don't have a DDR board...

Lol, Sugadaddy's right. If you have a K7V mobo, you can forget a T-Bird altogether. But I don't think thats the case to in short, you don't need DDR Ram, use your PC150 and overclock the FSB of that puppy, to the max. Thats all.
