If you've already got PC2100, it will work fine on recent and probably near future mobo releases that support DDR. If you're purchasing for the future, then PC2700 is a safe buy, and it's not all that much more expensive than PC2100. I just built a P4 1.6A system (oc'd to 2.13) on an Asus P4B266 board, and the Crucial PC2100 stick I have in it works just fine (in fact, I have the FSB set to 132 and the memory set to 3:4, 2:2:2:7... which means my RAM is handling some very good overclocking). Since I bought the stick for 25 bucks a few months ago (when memory was cheapest), I didn't see any sense in spending 100 bucks on a stick of PC2700 (Kingmax). But if I were buying now, the price difference of 15 to 20 dollars would not disuade me from buying the faster PC2700 stick.
