Hi everyone, I'm looking for your advice as I'm in the process of buying and additional 16GB of DDR4. I currently have this kit:

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14D-16GVK

However now that I'm looking to buy another kit they're more expensive than they were about 6 months ago, therefore I'm eyeing this set instead:

G.SKILL Flare X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) AMD X370 / B350 Memory (Desktop Memory) Model F4-3200C14D-16GFX

I know they're different series but the cas latency and voltage is the exact same and both are G.SKILL branded. Would it be possible to use both without incurring into any problem?

It shouldn't be a problem; the system should run all modules at the best performance level that both are capable for, or another way of wording it, it'll run all the modules at whatever the slowest one(s) are capable of.

I say "should" because you basically will never know unless you try it Both products look the same to me anyway in terms of specs. I would be surprised if you ran into problems. Making sure you have an up-to-date BIOS is probably a good idea, I built a system last year that didn't like 64GB RAM (or was it 32GB) until the BIOS had been updated.

Mirror above comments, but I would suggest you email G Skill tech support. They are pretty responsive in replying, and could tell you if you will run into any compatibility issues.

Thanks a lot guys, I ordered the G.SKILL Flare X kit. I didn't contact them beforehand but based on your comments I believe they should work just fine!

My experience with mixing G.SKILL kits of different models limited the choices to a common "model line" -- the difference between the kits being that of the spec speed. I simply clocked them at the lowest common denominator, or the spec settings of the slower kit.

Most recently, I feel lucky for being able to run two TridentZ DDR4-3200 14-14-14 kits for 4x8GB = 32GB at the common spec settings. I wasn't able to run them at command-rate of 1 under the spec XMP voltage settings (including VCCIO and VCCSA).

I hope it works out all right for you, OP. I suppose I would worry if two different kits (and different models) would have different secondary timings, or that "lowest common denominator" simply works properly given the secondary timings.
