Um, of what value is a 1-port router?

Ok, I found it. it's the Speedstream 2601. It's got 2 ports, a WAN port to connect to the broadband ISP's incoming modem, and one LAN port to connect to a single PC, or a hub/switch.

This is HOT! Too bad there is no Fry's in NY.
Outpost has it here for $9.99 after $10 rebate though. May get a couple just for the hell of it.

Whoever does not know how to use a single-port router, should not have Tux as their avatar.

I dunno. I picked up my router from OfficeDepot a few weeks ago for $9.99 after rebates, D-LINK DI-604 (4-port). I'd say hold off for another better deal.

I bought one last week but ended up returning it because it limited my downstream speed to ~65 KB/sec (I can get ~150 KB/sec).

Agreed, they probably should have thought about it a little more, but that was a little harsh.. For a golden member even..

Excuse my newbie question, but how would I hook it up to my ps2? I remember hearing about ppl dropping $60 on a router to connect w/ their ps2s late last year when the network adaptor was out of stock, but I never found out how it woudl work. thanks

Good router for the money, just hook it up to an existing switch or hub and you got yourself a more secure network.

i've been using this router for a while now, and at first it was quirky (had login problems), but after a firmware upgrade, everything runs great. And no speed problems here, I'm at my max download speed (~150KB/s)

Maybe I got a bad one but I was also running it in DMZ mode (most routers take a small performance hit in DMZ).

I just bought one. On the shelf the price is listed as $9.99 - $10 MIR = free. They print a rebate receipt and bring you the rebate form at checkout. The local Fry's has a couple dozen on the shelf left right now. It's a Siemens SpeedStream 2601, fry's part # 3493323, normally $29.99.
