DEAD 17" vprMatrix (OEM Samsung!) LCD $300 after MIR @ Best Buy

It's definitely GVISION, not samsung as donrussell has stated that's where the rebates go...

I read in another thread that has Kogi deal (Kogi gets their panel from GVISION) for about the same price (with $160 rebate as well), one person said the response time is 45ms, but i don't know where he got the number from.

If the response time is really 45ms, then we'd better off waiting for another dell deal.

It is not the KOGI. First the Kogi does not have DVI. Second I just got off the phone with vpr matrix and they told me this LCD is based on a Samsung but he was not allowed to tell me which one.

Also, if you look at the Kogi, they seem to only include it with integrated speakers ( at least the one on Best Buy's website ). All the stats do not match up.

It could be based on the Samsung SyncMaster 171 S. They have very similar specs.. or maybe even the Samsung SyncMaster 171 B

Very nice, esp because it lasts until 2/8. That should be more than enough time for someone to jump on this and confirm the branding/ghosting.

I picked up one of these units, screen is pretty bright..

And I can confirm that it does have a DVI interface (plugged it in right now to my TI4400 through the DVI port)..

I'll play some games (warcraft iii) and see if it starts ghosting..

ok, I'm about 90% sure this is a samsung. Not only does the actual panel look very similar to the Samsung, I found this picture of the back of the Samsung 171P

I was at best buy today and checked out the backside to see the connectors and it is identical!

When vpr matrix told you this model is based on a samsung, is it possible that he meant based on the exterior looks? or did he mean the panel (or the screen, or watever they call those things that make color and lights..)

I picked up one of these tonight at the BB in Fargo, ND. I agree that it is extremely bright. I immediately turned the brightness way down. The DVI is nice, especially with my AIW 9700. I haven't tried any games but I've watched video and the picture is great. I also ran 3DMark to see what it might look like in games and it looked very sharp. I'm considering picking one up for work tomorrow.

The store said the BB extended warranty is not available for this monitor. Too bad I was ready to purchase. BTW the power supply clearly says Samsung. It is not a 171p though because there is no pivot for portrait mode.

The address on rebate is identical to the one on KOGi 17"

nah, dunt think it's hot without a rebate. with tax it's $497 for me, I'd rather get a real samsung at that price.

it's the correct rebate and it's not dubios, when I picked it up, one printed on the register.. I saw the BB personnel bulletin thing - it stated that this monitor is supposed to be an alternate if the KOGI brand sells out..

BTW, it's MADE in "KOREA" - considering one guy stated that it has a SAMSUNG PS, I would assume it's made by samsung.

Just picked it up myself. THis thing is beautiful on the outside. Not only does it pivot but the height goes up and down. So it is at eye level for me now. Very bright which I like. Playing Amerca's Army as we speak and ghosting is minimal. It's a keeper. i can't believe a DVI LCD with 25ms response is $249

Ghosting seems to be quite minimal. I played war 3 with it and it's fine, also played a couple of dvd's.. No ghosting on the dvd's..

My Bro-In-Law has a Samsung 191T and I really can't tell the difference..

All of VPR MAtrix's monitors are Samsungs - either rebadged or specially made for VPR/Best Buy.
I know this because when I still worked for BB and when I found out VPR was coming out with 'their own' monitors, it was the first question I asked. Immediate answer was Samsung from different reliable sources.

So once again, SAMSUNG MAKES THIS MONITOR
