Shouldn't they give you the option of choosing in store pickup or online shipped, before they tell you its out of stock?

I must have got one of the last ones. Ordered a few minutes ago and then saw the OOS post. Refreshed bestbuy.com and it's OOS.

right now, when i click on the posted link, it says "Not available for delivery at this time. Not available for store pickup." Maybe the website has the cookie of my zip code.

That's exactly what I was thinking. How can they say "not avialable for instore pickup." I know they didn't check the inventory at every BB across the US.

That's possible but I don't think that's what they are doing. I think they are just saying it's "OOS" to anyone, anywhere, that wants to order one, even if they can go to their local BB at 8am tomorrow and pick one up.

When I selected instore pickup, I was able to choose from 3 stores, there is no way that within 5 minutes they went from having it a all three stores, to being sold out at all 3.

Maybe Bestbuy now thinks this deal is too good?

I did the exact same thing. After funks post, I began the ordering process. I'm suprised I made it too, because it had been a while since I ordered from best buy and I had to update all my information.

The Best Buy store at San Bernardino, CA just got them today (saw about seven of them stacked up)..

I'm sure if some of you guys visit the local store, you'd be able to snag a deal.

Then again since you can normally oreder online for instore pickup, maybe you can get them to give it to you at B&M with the same price as online.

I believe this monitor is a rebaged 171p.. We at least the buttons and lights and etc matches the 171p's control/location..

Moreover, the OSD is identical to the 171p.

I initially thought so also, but the specs dont quite match. The 171p has 500:1 contrast and max 85 refresh rate while the vpr has 400:1 and 75 refresh. Other than that, the two monitors seem identical.

If you buy it in the store (not in-store pickup) the missing $50 will be from the rebate, not an instant savings. Both online and B&M should have the same "out the door" cost.

Check the rebate for $50 now. Looks like they just changed the date to expire 2/03/03 (yesterday). Anyone know what the hell is going on? I purchased it yesterday online but am not picking it until today. What will my purchase date show?

it should show yesterday...and if it doesn't, then don't pick it up if you don't want to buy the LCD for $300 (which is still a great deal for this monitor).

Is $300 still a great deal for this monitor?...several of the B&M's have these around me...I may still get one. Does this come with the DVI connector cable? (Excuse my ignorance, I do not own, nor do I know anything about flat panel monitors!!). Or is that an accessory I have to buy? Can this be used for minor video editing and gaming?

$300 AR is still a great price for this monitor! It has better specs than the Kogi that was advertised in this week's circular. I almost bought a Dell E171FP (only 350:1 contrast ratio, but 25 ms resp time) yesterday on their 10% off SP sale, and I got a $50 off $400 Dell coupon for that -- but the vpr won out, at $100 less after rebates.

Some people mentioned the DVI cable comes in the box. If not, no biggie. It shouldn't stop you from buying the monitor. For comparison, the Dell UltraSharp 1702 LCD (with DVI) is $580+, no rebates.

There are 2 input cables hardwired into the base, d-sub analog and DVI.

The store computer guru ( stock boy) told me, "Warranty is one year parts/labor..not including shipping both ways to facility in CA".

BB doesn't offer extended warranty on this monitor...makes me wonder.

Good point Flatpicker. The Kogi monitor has a 3-year warranty. If you get a chance to compare the two side-by-side, the Kogi might be better for peace of mind.
