UPDATE: Glad to post something you guys found useful! Somehow these guys put me on their mailing list (I must have bought something from them at one time or another) - most of the stuff they were pushing was overpriced, but this one caught my eye. I've gotten SOOOO many deals from Anandtech, it feels great to actually post a deal of my own

UPDATE 7/3 12PM PST: I just ordered some more of these and the product page said "Sold Out."... not 5 minutes later, when I refreshed the page, it was changed to "56 In Stock.". 20 dollars for that woofer! man... thats a lot of power for a computer speak. that thing out-powers most home theatre woofers! plus a headphone jack! and its not like they're quoting peak power like those "200 watt" no-name speakers that came with your no-name PC back in the day

Well, at this price and for 140 Watt Sub, I pulled the trigger on a couple of these babies...if they deliver the full 140...I will be very happy! The shipping was a killer...38.75 for a 39.98 order, but they are 28 lbs each. Right now I have a couple of sets of Altec Lansing 66i's that I got for $23 shipped from Buy.com in October or so, but still those only have a 27 watt Sub...I won't need regular stereo speakers if there are good....

I don't know how often stock updates on their site, so I hope I got in on time!


EDIT: Anyone else get an order in? I ordered just before I posted this, just wondering how many might have been sold....Also, I wonder if anyone found reviews on them..I'm looking myself now, and these aren't the type of things a lot of people would have bought with their Compaq...

I don't really have a need for em either (but MORE POWER!!)...I also have a couple sets of Altec Lansing ACS33's new in box..

That is one bad thing about getting in early...If they aren't up to snuff, someone will let us know later...but Insight would give us some time to cancel..UPS ground for me and they say orders go out within 24 hours, we will have to see

It does sounds like an incredible price, but I'm sure they were cleared out of Compaq's inventory...source on the Spec page is....

It's always possible b0mbrman...I was just going by the fact that these have been out for a year and a half, and they don't have the same look as the newer Compaq computers, so Compaq might have been trying to get rid of them quickly.

thats what the port is for, ever heard bose or other small speaker subs, they use the enclosure to achieve the lower frequency (maybe )

Yeah, they are definitely gone. Insight does not seem to have real time inventory. Also, after checking out their reseller ratings comments, I decided to pass on this deal. Good luck to any of you guys that ordered, but most definitely the 14 are way past gone.

Well, it kinda depends on how they make the enclosure. Bose's &quot;waveguide&quot; radio has surprising sound coming out of such a small speaker because it uses &quot;folded-horn&quot; type technology.

If it actually hits 25hz acurately? It could get close, but I'd have to see it to believe it.
