Get off your proverbial high-horses. I know that I (and probably many others) got in on this deal thinking it was very possibly legit. Afterall, we had confirmation of the model number (2405FPW) in three places: The order page, an advertising image, and order acceptance/confirmation emails. Further, you can buy a *NEW* 2005FPW for less than the price we ended up paying.
I really don't think it is unreasonable for us to have thought this was an actual sale. Now having said that, I agree that we have no recourse as this was most likely a typographical or technical error and Dell claims no responsibility for these things.
Dell's incompetence has only been further impressed upon me by the way they handled this whole thing. They obviously knew there was an error since they corrected the ad image, but they never bothered to alert the customers or cancel orders. It doesn't help that their English-impaired CS reps are clueless. Now I am stuck with the hassle of arranging for a return and waiting to have my money re-credited.

Hmm, you saw that they had the specs for a 2005 fpw, but with a 2405fpw name. Maybe they should take a marker to the monitor and write 2405fpw over the 2005fpw. Face it, you knew it was a 2005 price and specs. Karma can be a bitch.
BTW, dells CSR's are bad, but who doesnt know this. They are far from the evil empire you claim they are. Where else can we get great deals on lcds like the 2005fpws.

Here's the facts. Listed was the 2405 for $428 as a REFURB. Refurb means it is going to be cheaper then NEW. 2005 is cheaper then $428 NEW. The advertisement along with the link and the webpage ALL said 2405.
So people placed orders. All email confirmations showed 2405 WITH the correct specs. You could log in and check your order status and it shows 2405 with all things being correct.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, ITS A DUCK. Then, Dell decided it wasn't a typo error in the description for the actual item. They started going around changing all orders and stuf in the system AFTER others had already been shipped the 2405.
It's not a immoral thing or trying to screw Dell over. Since we are buying REFURBS, these could be refurbs in REALLY bad condition, which is why they may havebeen so cheap. Do you KNOW the quality of any refurbished item before you buy it? no. This was the reason I didn't jump on the deal because I thought at this price these might have be something that went through a meat grinder. People who are mad at this BAIT AND SWITCH, which is exactly what this has become have a legitmate greviance. Those spotting ethics, and morality are just being trolling morons who more then likely secretly upset they didn't get in on the deal.
Dell had done everything illegal in this transaction once they started making changes. the original link said 2405. The banner ad and picture said 2405. The original email order confirmations said 2405. The original order status pages said 2405. People that ordered 1 day delivery andpaid extra all got shipped the 2405. The day AFTER the ad banner and pictures STILL stated 2405. It's only the people that didn't get 1 day delivery or didn't get in touch with the "right" CSR are not going to get their original order.
So Buck, do what your name rhymes with and shut the buck up.

There were more indictions that it was a 2405 than a 2005 (see my above post). I knew it could *possibly* be a typo and it was. Thats the way things go. Stop being so antagonistic and impugning everyone's integrity.
And for the record, Dell is pretty evil. Ask yourself why are their prices so good? It's not because they have smaller profit margin's than their competitors. It's because they are the Walmart of computer OEMs.

I drafted a one page letter last night, explaining the details of Dells Terms and Conditions. Dell was very responsive and got back with me. I was going to Fax them all of my documents but Dell has realized their error and understand that by shipping out the product they are bound by the agreed upon price. Almost 100% of all online retailers use the same method, the contract is not set until the item has shipped. Once the item has shipped the seller has agreed to sell the specified product at the specified price.
Here is an excerpt from the CSR I just received:
"If you receive the 20 FP and get it upgraded to 24FP monitor. Please get
back to me and I will refund you if will be charged extra apart from
$428 which was actually advertised by Dell outlet for 24FP monitor."

and say what?
Dell: So you saw the page and the potential error, placed the order for a 2005fpw, the confirmation said 2005fpw, went ahead to receive your 2005fpw, you received your 2005fpw as expected, and now you want a 2405fpw? Good day sir.

My suggestion? Don't give up. Keep hounding them. Keep calling. Keep emailing. Keep faxing. Keep doing whatever you can to get what you felt you paid for.
I think in the end, many of you who ended up with 2005's and still want the 2405, will get your monitors.
Good luck, guys. Thankfully, I'm one of the few, it appears, that already got mine (2 of the 4, anyway). The other 2 currently show "In transit to local carrier" on the order now, so that leads me to believe they're on their way as well.
