oh... that's right. i just remembered. in california there's a law that came into practice that is something like the following:
"Merchants will not be able to charge a higher price than the lowest price displayed, advertised or posted, regardless of any time limitation."
i know i've seen this at many retailers here. if a price is advertised on something, even if it's wrong, they have to sell it to you for that price. can someone help me find the actual text, so that i can submit it to these guys?

Actually "Merchants will not be able to charge a higher price than the lowest price displayed, advertised or posted, regardless of any time limitation" is a consumer law that went into effect in 2005 in California.. I have searched but cannot not find the exact reference number; however, it definately is a law in California.

Get off your proverbial high-horses. I know that I (and probably many others) got in on this deal thinking it was very possibly legit. Afterall, we had confirmation of the model number (2405FPW) in three places: The order page, an advertising image, and order acceptance/confirmation emails. Further, you can buy a *NEW* 2005FPW for less than the price we ended up paying.
YEP - This has nothing to do with advertised prices (online, newspaper, flyer etc.) for B&M stores either.Originally posted by: dahvaio
iwearnosox,
Your right, it looks like it only pertains to B&M
Prices: Overcharges ? AB 1721 (Koretz, D-West Hollywood) ? Prohibits any person or store from charging an amount greater than the lowest price posted for a product, even if there is an expiration date posted for that product. This law clarifies that expired sale signs that are not removed must be honored by the merchant. It also clarifies the language of the law to cover scanner overcharges.

Thankfully, I'm one of the few, it appears, that already got mine (2 of the 4, anyway). The other 2 currently show "In transit to local carrier" on the order now, so that leads me to believe they're on their way as well.

A NEW 2005fpw is less than 428 all the time? WOW, cause I see it for 749 MSRP which is what refurbs are based upon. They dont take into consideration the 8 coupons/discounts you applied to get it to ~390.
The 2405 costs $1199 MSRP and you REALLY thought it was 428 for a refurb? This after the fact that you KNOW the cheapest this monitor has ever been was ~850 after some discounts?
el oh el you are quite ignorant.

How bout you shut the fvck up and go somewhere else with your righteous bullshit. This is the hot deals forum, not the 'get a good deal as long as its ethical' forum. People come here because they hope for a screw up like this to take advantage of.
Take it as far as you can without it being illegal, and to hell with morality. you think dell is moral?

What about ETHICS?
If you question whether a deal is real or a mistake, call or write the company, and ask. If it is a valid deal, post it. If it isn't, DO NOT post it, and DO NOT complain about it.
If there are limitations on a deal, DO NOT discuss ways to get around them.
If you think your post may be unethical, it probably is. DON'T POST IT. If you don't care about ethics, FIND ANOTHER FORUM. There are plenty of sites devoted to these kinds of activities. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! If that is what you want to do, PLEASE GO THERE. If you insist on doing it, here, you may become an involuntary lurker.

I spent the better part of last night playing with the monitor, rather than taking pictures of it.
Note: The reason 4 were purchased is simple. 3 of us in the office wanted them when we saw the deal, so we had one of us purchase all 4 (I'm the one that bought two). Two arrived yesterday, where I took 1 home, and the guy that paid for all 4 took the other home, in the event that Dell decided to not send us the other 2 that we'd bought. I can only take a picture of the one that I have now. If that's enough for now, I'll do it this evening.
Sadly, the more I think about it, the more I'd wished I'd bought more. Check eBay for 2405's. Since 2 days ago and now, it went from only having 2 listed to MANY more (so I'd venture that while it seems a lot of people weren't very lucky here, there were others who were). I'd wait 2-3 months and throw em up there and make a killing heh.
