for the sake of getting this monitor.. i hope those who... keep their orders do infact get this model.
best of luck.. i wouldnt mind spending a few hrs on a a phone to get this ... im dreaming of the day it goes down to this price!

anyone who ordered 5 not cancel their orders?

id be interested in this monitor

I agree with tornadog. Why is ethnicity important? Does it change any facts? Does it help your case? The fact that someone can't speak the English language that well doesn't surprise me. It is the fact people want to pinpoint the culture similarly. I have spoken to many Americans that can hardly speak English. I find that response is distasteful, and should be offensive to anyone who believes in our ethnically meshed America.

So to that end, I must say I disagree with your response iwearnosox.

I called 888-560-8324 and kept hitting 4 which is always the "other" category until I talked to a live person.

One more thing - he confirmed that Dell is indeed now shipping out BOTH a 2005 AND a 2405. Once the 2405 arrives a couple days after the 2005, they will ask for the 2005 to be shipped back. At least, that's how he explained it. Needless to say, if this actually happens, I will be floored.

You are confused. People are saying the Indian tech support isn't up to snuff, not that the tech support isn't up to snuff because they are Indian. There's a difference, but your PC-clouded mind can't see such subtleties.

Mine was shipped as well, those monkeys will be getting a call tomorrow. Heck, I would understand if they cancelled the order or at least placed it on hold, especially after so many people called them about it and pointed out their obvious mistake. Instead, they just go ahead and ship it, hoping that most people wouldn't go through all the trouble of returning that junk. This sure as hell is bait and switch - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an error but instead was done intentionally, a quick way to get rid of all those crappy 2005s...

Except they will charge me for the 2005 using my credit card which they have.

Dudes ... I come from India too ... and sadly I have to admit that Dell's QOS is much worse when you get routed to India. However, anyone who thinks Indian techs are clueless might want to pay a visit to Intel / AMD or IBM's research facilities in the US. In Dell's case ... their support staff in India comprise of kids who took short (3 to 6 month courses) in computers .. most of them are from non-IT backgrounds ... so their knowledge is a no more than a few inches deep. But then again if Dell had hired real engineers ... your 2005FPW would have cost you a fortune

I for one ... prefer a cheaper monitor ... bought with an AMEX card with the right perks

You guys banked on the fact that it was a price mistake, and it was. Just cancel the orders and stop demanding that you get something twice the value. In the long run, this does nothing but drive up the prices and lessen their quality to serve the customers to make up the loss.

I agree, not very cool to scam your way into a 2405, and dont give me that BS that you thought it was a 2405 instead of a 2005, it was a typo.

It amazes me that every time an obvious pricing/typing mistake like this happens, there's always a few losers out there quickly calling it a 'bait and switch' scam because their order is killed and they don't get to plug the vender in the @ss for its mistake.

You two are just jealous that you didn't get in on the deal yourselves. You know if you had seen this early enough you would be boasting and bragging as well. You can not honestly say that you would turn down a $1000 monitor for less than half the cost.

And jjsole, these companies should not be letting mistakes like this happen. They should take some time to check things over before making it available to the public. Otherwise, this is exactly what happens and it will definitely cost them time and money (at least the packing and shipping costs).
