I don't know if I'd call it a bait and switch. I'm sure they'd just claim a typo and somewhere on the site it says they aren't responsible for typos. Then again, I'd like to see Dell take a hit on these in the name of customer service.

but they should've fixed it with the confirmation email atleast.
or contact us prior to filling the order.

when the initial email + confirmation tells me i'm getting a 2405. I want a 2405.

Its not like this hasnt happened before Dell makes mistake Dell finds mistake and fix's it. People get all po'ed when Dell cancels all the orders and offers it for the real price. Customers yell bait and switch! Dell hunkers down and waits it out. Been there done that... The only hope of actually getting this is usally someone calling and complaining for several hours till someone gives in for that price.

While Dell has developed a (deserved) reputation for bait and switches lately (I have reported them to the BBB for one, myself), this is more of an error. I would imagine they have a clause somewhere in there terms of service that absolves them of responsibility in the event of typographical and technical errors.

All you cry babies knew you were buying a 2005fpw from the DESCRIPTION of the monitor but were hoping for a 2405fpw.
If it was listed as a 2405fpw with the specs of said monitor then Id be on your side.

Dont go crying now that you are getting what was described.

wow you guys are retarded! do you really expect a company who wants to stay in business to sell an item at less than 1/2 the cost of what it usually is? Come on? This isn't bait and switch this is just a typo and mistakes do happen. I mean would you sell your computer for 500 when you purchased it for 1000? It's not likek dell shipped some out and didn't ship the others out. So no gain no loss.

Well, the description was:

Special Offer! Supply Limited! 201 $428.00

Email confirm says:

Order detail - order placed 2005-05-25 13:18:44
Get a refurbished Dell 2405FPW Wide Angle Flat Panel for only $428 while supplies last Qty: 1

I figure, the worse is that its a refurb'ed 2005fpw (ugh), but just return it to Dell and complain and get some sort of freebie (buddy of mine got a free dell axim b/c his lappy got delayed then mysteriously cancelled) or coupon for 30 bucks off or free outlet shipping.

Its a gamble, whats incorrect the Title or the Body? Heck, they could've entered in the wrong price OR entered in the wrong model number OR copied the wrong description. I'm just hoping its the latter!

Like I said earlier, if the deal falls through, Dell will probably give out some consolation gift for all the folks that call and complain.

I missed out on this but was reading a few post on Slickdeals, it seem people are going to get the 2405.

As it sounds right now, you just need to wait for the 2005 to arrive, then call in and get a case number and Dell would then send a 2405 replacement (before or after return shipment, that I don't know).

They did a bait & switch on me. Contested the charges and ended up getting the computer for free (in the end). Heck, I even tried to call Dell and give them something for the computer, but with their crappy phone support I was transferred 3 times and then disconnected.

I didn't even want the computer... just the LCD TV!

Yup.

They should cancel the orders for the pricing mistake - not send out a completely different monitor. THAT'S where all the confusion is - and where Dell gets accused of baiting and switching.

I for one don't feel sorry for them when they get taken on stuff like this. What about the non-AT consumer who doesn't understand why their 2405 morphed into a 2005?

Just to let you guys know - what I did is I called them up today AFTER the 2005 was shipped. The indian guy then told me that once I received the 2005 I could ship it back and get a 2405 instead! WOW! I have a confirmation number for the phone call and everything so I think this will go through.

I hope I don't get some BS once this arrives like "well that guy shouldn't have told you that."

I've spent some time with dell on the phone, they have already shipped mine as well, but had the indian guy put in a rejection or something like that. On my dell account I still see the orders as shipped and charged to my credit card, so I will call again once the wrong thing arrives. I'm not expecting much but I'm just tired of dealing with them today. I wasn't even offered any compensation for my "troubles". I am pissed that now they decide to ship everything really fast, when I had to wait about 5 days for my 2005fpw 3 months ago.

I would prefer that you guys not refer to the customer reps by their race/country, I am sure there are people on this forum that belong to these countries and they could easily feel offended by the disparaging remarks.

Thank you.

Lmao. It's helpful to know their ethnicity because it tells you you're talking to their India "support." I doubt anyone cares beyond that.

Why not? Everyone refers to us as Americans and nobody is offended. Plus, Dell customer service sucks, no matter what country the rep is in.... it's just that the Indian tech support seems to be worse than average.
