This is Mushkin basic green, which is probably pretty good. Anyway, if you don't want to hassle with rebates and coupons, this is a pretty good deal for 256MB DDR from a reputable company like Newegg, where you know it will probably ship tomorrow. - $34.

I have 1GB of Mushkin 2100 Green in my comp right now, and it performs flawlessly. Also have a stick of 256MB Mushkin 2100 Green in my other comp, flawlessly as well.

GREAT RAM for those who aren't performance minded and want some rock solid, cheap RAM. I can't recommend enough the combo of Mushkin RAM and Newegg shipping and service.

Not sure what your point is. $33 + $33 = $66 for 256MB + 256MB = 512MB PC2700. Sounds like the price is the same range as your deal from last year except we don't need coupons. RAM prices have gone up dramatically since last year and are just starting to come back down. I hope it goes lower but you never can tell.

my point is, the price has been stable. it did not appreciate or depreciate. faster speeds have depreciated, but lower speeds have remained stable.

The fact remains that it really doesn't matter what you paid LAST YEAR! What matters is right now, so if you can find a HOTTER deal for this same memory than by all means post the link. Memory prices flutuate more than gold and are always changing. Not everyone can get the BEST deal every time. Sounds like your post belongs in the Brag and Moan thread!

So.. how does the state of the memory market have any impact on the temperature of this deal?

The overall cost of memory (state of the memory market) has everything to do with if a deal is hot. One month from now this same deal might be considered ice-cold, or lava-hot, depending on which way memory price swings. Memory hot deals are always very time specific. You can't compare what happened in the past, or what is going to happen in the future. If you can find a better deal for name-brand memory that doesn't require a rebate, or some other hoop to jump through, post that deal.
