I too am seeing this item as "In Stock". Do they only tell you it's backordered AFTER you order? Or do they actually have some?

I got this card for $86.00 shipped from Ubid last week and think it's worth every penny. My Amigo PDA has a built-in PC Card slot and it works like a charm, I can carry a couple of VCD's or ton of music anywhere I go. Be warned, however, that your PDA will get very warm after using this card for a little while, not to mention it drains your battery rapidly. Just my $.02

They probably didn't have any the previous day. Gateway sucks, they're just that way.

I predict this will be my 3rd (or maybe even 4th) cancelled order out of three orders placed. And they always had them in stock until I get the backorder email about 10 minutes after order was placed.

They just suck.

Hi all,

I was a bit worry when I got my back-ordered notice. Was planning to cancel my order if it was not shipped by 8/15. I just check my order today. The status of of my order changed from "back-orderd" to "Processing". I think I might be getting mine ship soon (I hope). Still bit worry about the $100 rebate. Anyone else got their order status changed too?

This appears to be an excellent solution to transferring large amounts of data between my work laptop and my desktop at home. I don't have broadband at home and the laptop is configured to communicate only with my office network. So, some type of data exchange capability is needed. Here's I intend to do it.

The laptop has PCMCIA slots (duh), so no problem there. On the desktop unit, I recently purchased a Lexar USB Compact Flash Reader that is actually a USB enabled PCMCIA slot interface. The compact flash slides into a PCMCIA adapter which then slides into the PCMCIA slot. Unless I am missing something, methinks the Toshiba drive should work perfectly within the Lexar USB PCMCIA slot. Voila!

On the contrary -- have a look at the second paragraph on the Gateway Accessories Store's "Manufacturer Rebates Center" page:

"A rebate is a transaction between you and the manufacturer offering the promotion. You must follow the rules and instructions listed on the rebate form. Generally, you will need to complete and mail in the rebate form -- along with a copy of your receipt -- to the address specified on the form. The Shipment Notification email you receive after your order has been processed will serve as your receipt. "

So if they ship after 08/15/2002, your "receipt" (Shipment Notification) will fall outside of the period eligibility.
