What are you using to host that RAID?
Drives are still available at $80. Coupon is dead.
It's just difficult to buy stuff when you know that it was $20 cheaper just an hour ago. I thought about this deal all morning and didn't bite. I don't need them (I have a WD 1TB Black in the closet). Maybe one day, I'll set up a RAID 1 or RAID 5 storage and backup system. Need GB Ethernet first though!
Eh, there will be more deals like this soon.
AAAAACK! I've been buying 2TB HDDs on every price drop. I suppose it is a good thing that I didn't see this in time, or I'd be buying 5. I've got a number of 1.5TB drives that I wouldn't mind replacing. Some of them are Seagate 7200.11 and while I haven't had problems with them in particular (I firmware updated ones that were "affected") I wouldn't mind bigger/quieter/cooler/less power for pure data drives.
Hmmm, then again I'm having particular bad luck with HDDs right about now. Just in the past week I've had two VelociRaptors die (out of 4 I own) and one ancient Seagate 80GB that is developing bad sectors.
