Just built a system w/ a 2.4 p4 in this case. PS seems a little flaky... seems like it is on the outer edge running only a couple of drives. The 12V rail was running @ about 12.4, so I didnt trust it. I threw in an old sparkle I had lying around and now it works just fine.

The RAIDmax cases might be a little nicer, but not much. I have used both......
Does that Raidmax case come with a power supply? It doesn't appear too....

It does come with a power supply. The photos I linked to are from the $42 dollar case (without PS), but for $53 you get a 350W PS included.

I'm still trying to decide between the two. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Well, I use the Geeks cases and not the Newegg Raidmax cases, so you have my opinion on the matter.......

Yes, but why one over the other? I am willing to fork out the extra $14 if the Raidmax is better. Have you seen both of these in person?

Thanks.

Re: Raidmax case - Bought 2 and will not buy another. The rear fan is 60 mm and is LOUD. I have several extra quieter 60 mm so that's not too much of a hassle. This case does nothing to muffle any fan noise, so all cooling purchases must be made with this in mind. Also if you constantly tinker with your system, then this case is definitely not for you because the aluminum is thin - you will eventually bend it out of shape if you are not careful. On the other hand it is good looking and light. The P/S is worth ten dollars and no more. If you entrust your system to a $10 P/S then may God be with you.

Yes I realize that neither of these cases are "quality." I have had a SuperMicro SC750A, a Yeong Yang cube case, and a Chenbro Netserver, so I know this will not compare.

I am buying this case to house my old PIII.

I have just one question. Is this case itself (not the sides) made out of that shiny looking steel that bends and flexes when you push it or is it sturdy "heavy duty" in stature?

While this may be a good price, I don't want to buy a "flexy" case

The case is pretty sturdy. The sides are a little wimpy, but I have seen much worse.........

Yeah linear is a well known case modder and modderator at bittech.net. He inspired me to build my acrylic case. His googler link is a good one, but I dont think he had intentions of leading people to the top google hit on his "polycarbonate acrylic edges"

My thoughts on the case quality:

- PS seems to be adequate for my XP2000 with 3 drives
- VERY lightweight. system fully assembled still significantly less heavy than my Antec case by itself
- Side panels marginally sturdy but ridiculously light. I wouldn't try tossing this one down a flight of stairs.
- Front panel is kind of cheap plastic. Bezels pain in ass to remove. And I mean PAIN IN THE ASS.
- White faceplates look fine against silver.
- Front Audio / USB connectors PAIN IN THE ASS to plug in (all separate cables). Audio requires more pins than motherboard has. (I'm short 1 VCC and 1 GND for L-In)
- drive bay access adequate
- Card screws require removal of rear bezel attachment. Kind of a pain.
- Card screws require SMALL THREAD screws instead of standard large thread, meaning I can't use standard thumbscrews.

Overall, case is a great value for $38 or so. I'd still prefer the Foxconn cases I've been using tho.

Got mine today and it is not as bad as I thought it would be...in other words when I picked it up there was no forces of gravity distorting it!.. I think this was a good deal and it will look too cool when built!

Thanks for the response, but I ordered a REAL case yesterday from Amazon.com. I got an Antec Lanboy Aluminum case w/350W TrueBlue power supply and clear window. Sure, I paid twice as much, but I don't mind paying for quality.

Got mine, installed everything, works nice. I use as the case for my entertainment computer int he living (attached to the home theater system). THe case looks sweet, though...the 5" bezels are a pain in the arse to remove, cut my thumb right above the finger nail trying to remove the top one.

Otherwise, for sub-$40 you can't go wrong...
