Indeed, I validate the legitimacy of the aforementioned post. However, in my vain attempt to configure a Dell 700m laptop using the recently released coupon, I unfortunately came to discover that the savings were not comparable to the 25% off coupons found in Dell's Small Business division.

Edit: forgot to translate the last line "crazy coupon though..."

However, I must admit that the crazocisty of this coupon is indeed high.

FREE 40GB Hard Drive

Yeah I wanted an X40 but this is sooooo cheap. (700m) I figure if I get it and don't like it I can return it to DELL and eat the shipping (no biggie) or sell it on ebay and almost certainly get my money back if not a tiny profit.

Here are some reviews for the 700m

Pc Magazine

Anandtech User Review

Overall seems like the biggest complaints are the crappy battery life (hence the 8 cell battery I added) and the cheap feeling mouse buttons. Also, it seems pretty thick for a portable laptop but we'll see when I get it.

let me know what you decide. I think 6.9lbs for the 8600 isnt that bad. only a couple of lbs over the 700m.

the deal is dead, the $200 doesn't work anymore. Even though you can still select it and all it will say "Database error or broken page please adjust your order" etc.

If you live in a state where DELL has a physical presence you have to pay a sales tax. No way around it.

Some states do not have a state sales tax, thus Dell does not charge them sales tax (Oregon is one that I am aware of...it depends on the ship to state).
