I just did this. Worked fine and everything. The girl at the register even printed out another 2 reciepts for the rebates.

In and out. Paid $102.22 for it, so $32.22 after rebates. VERY HOT.

edit:
Mine's running fine at 400fsb. Thought I might add that.

You have to drop to 3-4-4-8 for 3200 operation.

Kingstons PC2700 and PC3200 512MB valueram chips are identical, the 3200s are just higher latency settings.

Yea, all the CC rebates have worked for me: even after I did a PM to another store. IIRC, it's only BB that bars rebates after you PM.

I've done price matches at CC and got the rebates too. I'm going to give this a shot. I'm sure one of my boxes can use more memory..

Thanks OP

didn't work for me, because the price after rebates was lower, so the CC wouldn't do the price match. That's too bad, I could have used an extra 512MB for UT2004. I guess I'll just have to wait until the next memory deal.

Questions:

1. Is it recommended to buy the RAM first, then go to customer service for PM or has everyone decided that the CC rebate house does not care about original price and do just do the PM at the first point of sale?

2. How does one determine what chip the stick of RAM has? Where do I look?

3. Does the RAM have to be in stock at the local OM for CC to honor this even though I can order it online? Some people mentioned CC employees calling the local OM stores for stock status.

4. Why do so many CC employees/mgrs act like the money you save is coming out of their pockets? I can only imagine how much money CC makes on regular people who come in and buy stuff at normal prices (and we all know the markup on computer/electronic stuff). Also, it is not like there are 100 ATers at every CC trying to take advantage of every deal that comes along. Sheesh.

Thanks!

1. I bought the ram first and then went back later and did the pricematch.
I left the rebates in the car, which doesn't really matter since you can print them up, and I also made a copy of the original receipt.

it just depends on who is working at the time.
For example,
I PM'd 1 stick yesterday and the girl just took the paper and reciept and next thing she said was here is your money back and the transaction went flawlessly.
BUT, today I went to the same CC and bought a gig, tried to PM it and a differenct girl at the counter argued with me that they can't do that and she wouldn't PM it for me.
so I left, I will go back later tonight or tomorrow when another CSR is working.

2. I don't know
3. it shouldn't matter if they have it in stock, you can order online and the price is an online only price anyways, the B&M stores have diff. prices.
4. no shiznit!!! the ppl act like I am RIPPING THEM OFF, they act like they own the place and we are trying to steal or something.

I told the chick at the last transaction that I don't care about rebates, and won't do them(even though I would) and that I just want the cheaper price, she told me their price was cheaper after rebates and that was that.

ALSO, the gig I bought is running fine with 3-4-4-8 timing settings at 400mhz fsb

I'm really bad with how ram works but I just bought 2 sticks of this.

Would this ram work on a 2500+ barton build? How about a amd 64 build?

Woot. My chips were labeled Kingston and they are able to do cas 2.5 at 200FSB. I'm going to try lower cas settings and memtest it. Thanks again.

Also, one weird thing though, I am now running it with another 512mb of RAM (Dual Channel) on my Abit NF7-S and my marks in 3dmark2001 went down by 500. Very weird. Anyone have a clue why this is. I know I'm doing somethign wrong. I have the ram on the Dimm2 and Dimm3 slots.

I had the same issue with PCMARK04, I had a score of 4574 with the 1 gig not overclocked, at 333mhz.
then I went and overclocked them at 3448 timings and 400mhz and I got a score of 4505. But the crazy thing is, that it lists the components seperately, and all the seperate scores are higher than before but I got a lower total score by overclocking.......weird!

Just go at another time, unless you talked to a mgr then they will prob. remember you.
or try another store. look at my comments above, I went and got denied today in the afternoon, then went back at night and a different person was working and it worked no prob.
just depends on who is working

I'm pretty sure the person I talked to works there pretty much all the time. I guess I'll have to try again saturday.

Yeah, I work at Circuit City--after company changes that were made fairly recently...well all I can say...you're lucky if you get both in store.

acebake, how can I get someone to give me just the PM? I asked if I could have the PM w/o the rebate and I was turned down. =(

Do this...

1) Buy the ram at the original price.

2) Make copies of the receit showing the actual price.

3) Go back and PriceMatch the item. Since they see no rebates out and since they don't want to do the return process. You will get the pm.

Question:

which bar code should I mail in? The one that's on the kigston memory box? or the sticker one that enclose the ram?

Thanks!

Dam Abit manual was incorrect!!!! Hate that. With the Abit NF7-S you need to populate DIMM1 with DIMM2 or DIMM3. Found a bunch of articles stating this. Here one from Adrian's Rojak Pot:
link

isekkii you may want to make sure that you have the ram in the right slots.
