I'd love to see them cancel my cash payment. I am just picturing them throwing my money at me as I stand, arms folded, waiting for my card. Goodthing I didn't pay with a creditcard where they could just cancel without my awareness.

Sorry for not responding to people's PMs sooner. I don't get on AT as much as I used to. I responded to all those received so far.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else has gotten a response (or order) from Richard. I left a voicemail and email asking him about posting his number, but I haven't recieved a response from him. Hopefully he still has a job

If anyone knows anywhere I can still get in on this deal, hell I don't mind driving 900 miles out of state if I have to and taking a day of leave (I've done much worse), then PM me and let me know please.

Why is it BS if they hold the new cards until this sale is over? That's business and the sale was intended to get rid of the older cards. You're just whining at this point.

Willing to drive 900 miles out of state to make a pre-order for this? You must have too much time on your hands. Not only that, but any money you save will be lost due to travel thanks to the high gas prices and our idiot president.

then their ad should say something like IN-STOCK ONLY, NO RAINCHECKS, PRE-ORDERS OR PRE-PAYS, instead of saving 30% on ALL PNY cards.

none of these companies are held accountable anymore; they just cancel orders and honor advertisements whenever they feel like it.

Shouldn't this be COMMON SENSE? You are expecting them to have disclaimers for every possible circumstance?

i'm telling ya - there was allegedly a company-wide email about this issue, in which they were told to refund the money, and refuse the deal. i got two calls from them today to coordinate my refund. i saw at least one other person on FW saying that this happened to them as well.

I'm a little confused here. Was this sale only over the weekend? Or is it the whole week long?

I just talked to richard, to whom I placed my prepay for and he told me that he has been instructed not to take anymore orders for the 6800 series cards from the corporate office. Those that made thier orders or paid for them will recieve this deal! Just no more orders will be taken by anyone! They made a note on the store computers to not take anymore orders!

So Hopefully if this is true I'll get my cards in the future!

I finally headed over there 9am today, 7/1/04, and got to finally speak with the general store manager. He said they received an email from corporate 2 days ago stating they are NOT allowed to do the 30% off unless they physically had the card in hand because PNY would refuse to give CompUSSR back their money for the discount. He said I could do a pre-paid order for the FULL price if I wanted it that badly. I think he was mocking me.

Looks like this was a co-marketing promotion between CompUSA and PNY, with PNY footing a good portion of the bill for the discount, in order to move older stock to make room for their newer cards, of which I'm sure that CompUSA was happy with too, if it moves old stock off of their shelves. Looks like "Corp" is now well aware of this deal. Good luck to anyone getting in on it from hereon out. :|

In some ways it's frustrating, but it also makes sense, at least from the POV of CompUSA. These promotions aren't haphazard, you know. They are often "carefully" planned months in advance, and sometimes they forget small details, which is what Hot Dealers use to their advantage some times.

I wish I had done what someone else had the sense to do, they had BB PM CUSA (didn't know that they would PM percent-off discounts, was surprised to hear about it), and then with BB MIR, got a lower-end FX 5200 128MB card for under $35. I got in on that Microcenter FIC Radeon 9200 deal for cheap too, but that's only a 64MB card, and it looks like most FX 5200 cards have more OC headroom than those cheapy Radeons.

I wish you luck man, that's a helluva deal on a super-duper high-end card, but even at a discount it's way out of my price range. Oh well.
