Cost on a 6800 Ultra is like 489 bucks, whereas cost for an X800 Pro is 324 and XT is 406. For some reason the Nvidia cards coming out have a much higher cost, that's why this deal is even hotter! You didn't hear that from me, and NO I DON'T WORK AT COMPUSA!!! Or do I....

Get TAP on it and overclock to high hell! If you fry it, take it back and get a free replacement guys! You know I am!

Three days, three different San Diego-area CompUSA's, no luck. Ain't giving up yet though.

Update: Attempt #4 paid off. Reserved the GT for 301.69. Thanks for posting your receipt Zbox, the guy was telling me no until I showed that to him. Still took a call to the manager and thirty minutes of waiting to get it done, but it was worth it.

I also heard the sales guy say that the price I got it for i sabout 15% below cost from their distributer.

No joy. They wised up, it looks like.

As tempting as this seems, I think I'm going wait for a PCI Express version.

Why?

Because my next upgrade is going to be big. At least I hope so. I'll probably fold and order an AGP model online if I can get a good price on it. I'd really like to get PCI-Express, BTX, and 64 bit all in one fell swoop, but I highly doubt I'll have such luck.

if you're not going to do it in the next 3-6 months dont get this card, there just going to come out with a new one for X-Mas, and the prices for these cards are going to be cut in half. and the new generation is going to out perform this one by at least 50%.

None of this is based on fact mind you just the way I've seen the graphics industry work for the last 8 years.

can someone who pre-ordered an ultra or gt do me a favor??
I just got back from a COMPusa and they said they need the ticket number on the receipt or else they can't do anything about it. So if anyone can send or link a copy of their receipt with the ticket number on there, much is appreciated.
Thanks

Hey Zonto, I used your receipt at Compusa, yours was the one that needed the ticket number. They said it's the last thing you blacked out after. And without that, they can't check to make sure it's real or some bullcrap like that.

hmm, well thanks for trying. If anyone else who has pre-ordered it, can you link or send me a copy of your receipt with the ticket number?
Thanks

I think one of you guys might be talking about retail price, while the other is talking about cost price...but I don't know for sure.

Try minnetonka again, it just depends on what manager is on. I was there around 2:30 today and I got it with absolutely no hassle at all.

Anyone try this in Houston, TX yet? I called up the one on Westheimer (Royal Oaks) but they gave me a very odd response, then again it is over the phone..

I'll try stopping in tomorrow. Also, has anyone had any problems with pulling this off with a compusa card?

youareforbidden, the Rep said he would only need it to confirm that you did make a preorder and that I'm not photoshopping the whole receipt. I would really appreciate it if you did share it, but I also understand.
If you change your mind, you can personally e-mail it to me.

these are AGP cards. AGP cards are not SLI compatible. Therefore, these cards are not SLI compatible.

Confirmed working in Lewisville, TX. Manager was Julio and customer service rep was Ashley. Scored me a 6800 Ultra for $350. Of course it's not in yet, but soon...so very soon!

No go in Portland. Tried both Jantzen Beach and Tigard.
The lady there said she would of done it if she had a code that said they were getting them in, but for some reason it said they wouldn't be receiving any stock.

Just got off the phone with Richard at the local CompUSA. After working with him yesterday and today, he was able to place orders for the Ultra for $336.32 (+tax) and have free shipping as well.

I don't know where the 33% discount came from, but with free shipping means I don't have to drive to the store. I told him I heard about the deal on a deal site, and asked if he would like me to send him some business. He said sure.

So should I post his number, or should I just respond to PM requests for his number (so his voicemail isn't flooded)?
