Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding

The 30% off PNY promo was designed to push out all of their older model cards to make way for the 6800's. They'll do whatever it takes to ensure the deal expires before the new ones come in. If you can't get a prepaid order today this deal will be long dead by tomorrow.

Why would this be dead by tommoro..?Weekly Specials 06/27 - 07/03

The only reason anyone thinks they'll be in Thursday is the "expected ship date" listed for one of the 3 types of 6800 cards on the compusa website. Because they have this date online doesn't necessarily mean they'll be in the stores on this date.

I just tried calling to see if I could order it from one of my local stores. They have no idea when it will be in. The guy even called the warehouse for me to see if he could figure out when it would be in, he apparently called around and no one had a clue.

Basically, it appears to me that if they show up in the stores within the next week or whatever, you can get this deal. Otherwise, no.

True the Sales Rep I order the GT from said his store probably wouldn't get the Ultra till September IF they get them at all!!! I hope my GT comes in MUCH sooner than that lol.

GL to everyone else.

Ditto. I had like 6 staff trying not to sell me the card. At first, it was because of the sale price, and after, the manager said he didn't know if htey were even coming it, so he couldn't sell it to me at any price.

I was coming from Allentown, too, and KoP and Montgomeryville (the nearest CompUSA stores) are both about an hour away.

EDIT: I'm also waiting for Atomics' PM for Richard's information.

No luck at Fairlawn, OH

I asked the rep if I could order a 6800GT
The rep then left to check something on the computer, came back & said he didn't see anything he could order.
He then stated the new nVidia cards are not coming out until next month thereafter he called it a 6400 - fvcking idiots.

Maybe I'll get lucky on the next deal.

yeah, the fairlawn guys aren't terribly helpful, heh. thankfully i don't have to deal with them anymore. if you're persistant you might try showing them one of the receipts posted here. that's what worked for me in knoxville.

I talked to a lady in Cincinnatti, she said they would so if any one lives in Cincy, I will send you the money if you could pre-order one for me.
The losers at the Lexington store said that they never got the 5800 series and that they might not get the 6800's either? I have yet to hear about a 6900...

You have to watch those guys in Lexington. I have gotten to know a couple of them on a less than personal level and they tell me that any time some super deal comes out that all the employees buy them up before they hit the shelf. A few weeks ago they put their Sony 17" CRT on sale to 100.00 and the employees bought all they had (13) before the doors opened.

I believe. I went to the Lexington store on Monday to ask about the deal, and I called them today.
Same story
"we do not do pre-orders" and
"we do not have the card and do not know if we will even get the card"
Why?
"We didn't get the 5800 series a year ago we got the 5200 and the 5900 but the 5800 series did not make its way to us..."

They sounded completely shady to me...

There is a reason why I hardly ever shop there...

I just got one prebought at the Minnetonka CompUSA, they said it could be up to two months before they'd get any in, but I think they were just saying that so I wouldnt be mad if it was a while, but i'm guesing two weeks or less sounds right unless nVidia is backed up.

So, what's the best plan for walking in a store with $300, and walking out with a pre-order for a GT ?

Exactly what I'd like to know. Plan on going to my local CompUSA in Maryland tomorrow. Will print out the 2 receipts in case they tell me some crap about their "policy". What's the key to success?

make sure you've got the receipt as a backup. it was my last resort, and i ended up having to use it. without it i would have had nothing.

Finding the right person to help you out. There's nothing that you can do to garuntee the purchase of this card w/ the 30% off. It's in the luck of who you get to help you out, even then the person may be the nicestest CSR and will want to give you the deal but if their manage comes in and says "No." What else can you do?

To be honest, I call bs to all those that said that they got the 6800Ultra at $350. I want to see some scans...a picture would be 10xs better because someone could easily Photochop one up w/ the two receipts out there. Anyways, I talked to some really nice people that wanted to help me out, but the Ultra was just out of their league. Not only, because it was A07 (limited release), were all of them unsure as to whether they would receive them AT ALL but also the fact that they'd be losing $150. They knew this, and they also knew they were losing $100 on the GT they sold me, but THAT they could guarantee they were going to receive...plus, like I said they were really nice to me (surprisingly).

I haven't seen a receipt for anyone getting the Ultra either...out of some 1000+ posts over three boards I actually only seen a couple of receipts for the GT. I did manage to get the GT prepaid at $300.92...with the help of a friendly GM and salesman in the business department. It was a struggle but I caught a lucky break (and both of them in a good mood). I honestly don't think I've ever walked out of a CompUSA happy before. Of course no one seems to know when the card is actually going to be in...I've seen posts saying a few limited quantities are already out waiting for 7/1-7/2 and others have been told it could be 1-3 weeks from now. This became a YMMV deal very early and for most of us it was total luck if we got in at all.

Print off repceits from the image links on here, and just dont let them not do it refuse to leave if nessisary lmao. I did this and it was very easy actually, i just asked the checkout guy, and he looked it up on the computer and said he'd need a managers approval went and talked to a manager, came back and said he could do it, but wasnt sure when they were getting them in, so he rang it up, and gave me the repciet I need to get it, and I got in on a sweet deal. This is however by far the most I've ever paid for a vid card I might end up ebaying it, even though my Geforce 4 ti4200 is begging to be replaced...

That might be, because the ulra isnt worth the extra money unless your rich? GT is very close to the ultra. But then again their could be other reasons as well.

Hey Onizuka, YGPM.

Actually the 6800, will only be slightly faster, while the GT will slaughter it, the difference between the plain 6800 and GT is more than clock speeds, it's a huge gap.

It's a go in Omaha NE. I don't live there, but my mom does, so I sent her in, armed with printouts of receipts and special flyers, and all the info she could handle. From what I could gather from our conversation after she got it, they were not going to let her have it until she whipped out the printed copy of the receipt. Then they called a manager over and she said that they would honor it, holy sh*t! I thought for sure this would be a futile trip for her, but she was out the door with a receipt for a PNY 6800 Ultra for $374.02 after tax (7% here in NE.) I don't have the receipt, and she dosen't have a scanner, but as soon as I can get my hands on the receipt (and find some image hostin) I'll put a link up...

Good luck to the rest of you!
