Thanks for the update on the deal. I should have jumped on it earlier. Oh well, hopefully another one will come along before september.

I want to order one of the new Apple DVI based screens but won't if there are issues.

Any help would be great

Nick

There are no issues if you have the Apple 6800. I know someone who is running 2 30" of it, and the res is something like 2560x1600 times two. If there is on the PC side I'm sure its just a driver issue.

This PNY GT is smokin' hot. I upgraded from an MSI 5900 and effectively doubled my 3DMARK 2K3 scores.

Upgraded my drivers to 62.01, installed Coolbits2, o/c'ed to 425/1140 (it'll do more when I get more time), and 3DMark went from 6000 to 12540.

FarCry brought my 5900 down to it's knees, now it's running as smooth as buttah. LOVE THIS CARD. But I'm hating on the price tag ($399).

If you look at anantech review you'll realize that far-cry will have 50% faster frame rates on X800-XT-PE,
unless you turn off all the quality settings (AA,AF) in which case it's only 30% faster, so in fact what your
seeing is not as smooth as butt

530W Fortron, watercooling and plenty of space...

Thanks for your concern. [/sarcasm]

Dude, stfu...

9700 Pro, nice...

My 9800XT to a 6800 Ultra, then I sell and get a X800XT, while you still have a 9700 Pro...

Do you need a tissue?

Dude who cares? For the price I paid, my card owns the x800 XT PE(I think I paid like half of what that card costs). ha ha I win!

Man this really bites. They cancelled my preorder on 7/11 and refuse to honor the deal. There are a couple other compusa stores nearby that have the card in stock, so I'll try and see if they honor the deal instead, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Threatening to file a complaint with the BBB doesn't exactly strike fear into their hearts.

give it a shot. sometimes it's just a matter of talking to a different manager. there are still some folks out there who believe a purchase is a purchase.

dude, I'll be getting my x800-xtpe and will probably have finished doom 3 by the
time your ultra arrives, so why don't you relax and go play neotokyo or something...

what you say makes no sense at all, if you really want the x800, just get it now, you can
always sell your ultra, new in box, for a profit when it arrives (if ever).

And where exactly do you think you're gonna to hook up with the XT PE before my Ultra arrives? The Gateway 'deal', uh huh...

Bet I get mine before you get yours (LMK how Doom 3 plays on your 9700 Pro).

WOW! I actually got one (6800 GT)...I went into one of the local CompUSA's (Tampa, FL) a couple of weeks ago and tried to prepay, but they told me I couldn't prepay on items that they didn't know when they would have in stock. So they gave me a 'Midnight Madness Commit Form' with a confirmation number and '30% of product at time of purchase' written in big letters on it...I never once talked to a manager, this was all through the 'Backorder Specialist'. After reading all the machinations ppl were going through on this forum and then not being able to get the card, I kinda just forgot about it. Then today, the 'backorder specialist' called me and told me they had the card in stock and had one reserved for me. I went down there on my lunch break and came back to work with a PNY 6800 GT for $299 ($279+tax)!!!!
Thanks to whomever originally posted this deal, I never read the local ads so I would have never known about this!

Regarding the lack of CD in the boxes...After I picked up my pre-ordered GT in Tampa, I noticied the lack of CD. I called PNY tech support and as soon as I said 6800, the tech says "and you got no CD right ?". He said they decided not to include the CDs because the new 61.72 drivers were coming out on Friday. He also said PNY "leaked" the drivers to Guru3D.com. He said get them from guru3d NOT from PNY until this weekend. He is also mailing me the CD. And get this... He asked if I got in on the "COMPUSA DEAL". They knew about it at PNY. Employees from PNY were allowed to buy the cards for themselves last week. He said the 61.72 WHQL drivers will blow away anything ATI will have for months. We shall see..

Hmmm, interesting, very interesting...

Did he say anything about getting the 30% off himself? You most likely didn't ask, but any word on the Ultra? LOL
