It is complete BS as they know the odds of anyone actually calling them on it are slim. It is a ploy to try to get out of paying the rebates. It will all likely stop soon.. as they are obviously defrauding the public with these rebates these days. Someone will step up to the plate and pass some new laws with regard to rebates. It is way past due.

I generally just wait for my card to come in the mail with the lame excuse as to why the rebate can not be honored, then make my phone call to play their game. It is a hassle for sure. I might try going to the website and taking care of several at a time via emails.

I finally emailed them and got the "we've experienced technical difficulties with that rebate promotion, you should hear about the status of your rebate in the next 30 days" response. NOW...they're getting better than just saying it's invalid....now they string you along for another month, maybe you'll forget about it...or...wait another 30 days to make the rebate valid, then say it could take 6 - 8 weeks to process...gives them a little more interest on the "float" as they hold onto our money longer.

Has anyone received notice that both their $30 rebates are valid? My Maxtor rebate still isn't even showing up on the web site...

Just checked my rebates at RebatesHQ and the 2 $30 MIRs I sent are now showing up as valid...had to talk to a CSR abt the MIR with copied UPC to validate it. Maxtor reps have finally done their job!

Yep...the logjam has broken...rebates are showing up as valid for lots of folks (me included)

One of mine that I had to call on back on May 6th has been showing vaild since then but still no check. I called a few times and they said they would expidite it.

Sent an e-mail regarding my "invalid" rebate. Got a reply from customer service within a couple of hours stating my rebate has been validated.

Yeah, they pulled that delay nonsense too with me. Sent me a postcard saying I didn't provide a UPC for the Staples [copy-of-UPC] rebate, so I just did the normal 'beaur^H^H^H^H^Hdemocratic' thing and mailed the copy right back to them.... and it shows as 'in the system' now. Humph.

Just got an email stating my second (Maxtor) rebate is valid as well. Checked the site and both showing valid now.

What did you guys tell RebatesHQ in order to get them to validate the Maxtor rebate? They approved my Staples rebate but rejected the Maxtor saying only one of them was allowed.

I didn't have to do anything. As if by magic, an email stating that the second rebate was valid showed up in my inbox. I did not, however, receive a rejection prior to the valid email. Sounds like some of us got the rejection, and some did not.

I just got an email from rebateshq saying my submission for 03-57316 was invalid because it didn't have the original UPC AND it was postmarked too late.

Both rebates had the same postmark date. I sent out both rebates on the same day like I assume most normal people would. HOW COULD ONE BE POSTMARKED LATE AND INVALID!?! Ugh... I hate rebates.
