swear by Maxtor quality. Plus they're ATA133 and I have an ATA133 motherboard so I can get the extra boost
I too like Maxtor, but the 133 to ATA100 difference is virtually non-existent, which is why other hard drive manufacturers have not bothered upgrading their hard drives to ATA133. The physical characteristics and limitations of hard drive technology can't possibly use even 100, let alone 133. In my opinion, the difference between ATA66 and ATA100 or 133 is also so small as to be almost non-existent.
What matters way more is packing higher density of data per platter. This means the hard drive has to do less work to transfer higher amounts of data. The gains made in this technology dwarf any gains made by the higher ATA standards. It is like your car can only go 60 miles per hour. Now suppose you increase the speed limit to 133 miles per hour. Is this going to make your 60 mph car any faster?
