You misunderstood, he DID NOT find a card. He went to best buy to buy a card for this price (Which best buy is currently advertising) and they were out of stock despite their website claiming to have stock...

Anyways, yea I was also delayed.

I checked the order online and it still says estimated shipping date 10th... but status delayed...

its really a matter of "when will I find a better deal". If I see a card in stock somewhere at the same price I will buy it instead and cancel my dell order.

Decided I'd finally register here after much lurking and chime in on this thread. Order placed 11/28 for the XFX card, estimated shipping date 12/13... not too hopeful that it's actually going to happen. I've been keeping my eye on newegg for one of the sub-$290 XFX or EVGA cards, and if I happen to see one and the timing is right, I'm going to do the same as the poster above me.

Dunno if anyone knows right now, it'll be interesting to see if those orders whose ship dates were pushed back get another email pushing it further back, or if those are actual ship dates.

Right now, I'm taking the same "wait and see" approach as taltamir, as I haven't seen any better deals, don't need a card this second, and I can always cancel if something better comes up.

I think the most important question right now is, has anyone NOT gotten their ship dates delayed? I still haven't received any emails about my ship date getting delayed and it's still set to ship the 13th and arrive the 14th. And FYI, my order date was 11/29.

I canceled my dell order right now and I am NOT going out to pick up a replacement... I already played through crysis and such and there isn't really any new game I want coming out anytime soon that doesn't run fine on my 7900GS... Both games I am really waiting for right now are GalCiv2 expansion Twilight of Arnor and Universe at War: Earth Assult... and both of them run great at max everything on 1920x1200 on my system... When a new intensive game comes out in the future I Would either be able to buy these cards for cheaper, or a geforce 9...

Yeah, I just got my email stating that they won't be shipping out til 12-20-07. My order date was 11-28-07. Since I already have a 8800 GTS 640MB, I'll wait to see what happens. I'll let it go as far as the week of Christmas. After that, it's not worth it and I'll just wait for the next GTX.

Just got the email, new estimated ship date is 11/1/2008. Hahaha...amusing. Think I'm just going to invest in the G92 GTS w/Crysis at eVGA, and then step up based off of that to the next line of cards. I was fine as long as Dell arrived by Christmas, but I'm not waiting until halfway into January.

I had placed my dell order on 11-24 as news of this super sale was first catching on. When they delayed my order not once but twice since the initial ship date was 12-10, then became 12-12 which turned into 12-17 then I cancelled the order. Newegg shipped my gts out same day I ordered it and I'll be playing crysis with it Friday PM.

Tomorrow I will get my email telling me my shipment is delayed just like everyone else. I can't cancel my order because I only paid $157. I had a $50 Dell giftcard from AMEX. Right now I'm beating myself about the buttocks over how poorly Dell is managed.

Someone please name another company that sells merchandise they don't have in stock? The 8800gt shortage is over, the MSI card can be foudn all over the web currently as well as many other brands.

The only bright spot is that AMEX accidentally sent me two $50 Dell gift card codes. Of course whatever I order will be shipped 3 months later.

It's not like Dell was having a fire sale. They just put cards on sale based on their retail price with a 20% discount. The problem is that Dell seems to have little or no inventory on hand when selling these cards. It's not a Ponzi scheme becuase they don't charge us for the product but it feels like it when they have no product.

Both Newegg.com and Zipzoomfly.com have these cards in stock. I'm sure most every other retailer does as well. Hell, even Buy.com has a wide assortment of 8800gt. The supply problem with the 8800gt is a thing of the past in my opinion. Yes, some models sell out quickly but are replaced with new inventory quickly.

The more peole that cancel their order the sooner I get mine. That's if they actually have inventory.

obviously dell greatly underestimated the supply/demand situation for the 8800gt. They were hoping to take people out of the market, but now they're just hoping that those people give up.

People can bitch and moan all they want about newegg, but at least when I ordered my 3870 they actually had it in stock and I didn't get any "will ship around 1/11/08" messages.
