if you start a discussion about: IP-35E, IP-35, IP-35Pro, prepare for a hijack by ye Ole' Serpant.......

Look, he may be opinionated & I may not always agree with him, but he adds value to the discussions & has found some great deals. I, for one, like having SerpentRoyal around, even if I might get into a heated argument with him at some point

Rather than threadcrap, why not add value yourself?

I'll be getting my IP35-E this week, building around a Core2Duo E6600 & CoolerMaster RR-CCH-L9U1-GP CPU Cooler (posted here by SerpentRoyal). I could use 4 Gigs of the HP 1.8V DDR2 667 JEDEC RAM (also posted here by Serpent) which I recently received, or I might use 4 Gigs of Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM.

By my count, I'll have an IP35-E, CoolerMaster CPU Cooler & 4 Gigs of HP RAM for about $115, a big start towards building a nice new system. SerpentRoyal deserves partial credit for all of that. Add in the E6600, nice case & PS I already have, the Visiontek Radeon X1650PRO recently ordered from NewEgg ($39.99 AR) & I'll have a pretty loaded system for a little over $400 by the time I add my drives, with the CPU being almost half of that. Not bad, certainly a good example of why this forum is valuable.

You know, his recommendations are really terrible. I mean, how else could you get a good mid-range rig built on the cheap?

/sarcasm.

As diamonddave posted, this board + CM cooler + RAM from hot deals + Radeon X1650 Pro = good start to a good mid-range rig.

It's usually a good idea when one switches motherboards, one should do a fresh software install.

Here's the deal with doing a MB swap with Windows NT/2K/XP/2003: note that you should backup everything before trying this.

1) on your soon to be replaced MB system, from a fresh boot, go into device manager and unload all drivers: chipset, audio, network, video driver.

2) build new system, and start OS. Install new drivers. 20 or so odd reboots later, depending upon chipset and OS, you'll have your new system.

This will allow you to keep all your applications and user profile configuration as it was.

FYI: yes, I have done this 3 times successfully, the key is to uninstall all drivers with motherboard specific configuration, I played it safe and just did them all. You'll probably also want to disable your AV/Spyware/etc software while doing the swap and reinstall. Make sure you're not directly connected to the internet while doing this.

Does anyone know where I can find the rebate for this motherboard? I printed it when I purchased it, but can no longer find the printout.

Thanks!
