It's back! Abit IP35-E boards cheap once again at Newegg. For those of you who don't know about it, it's a great budget overclocking board for C2D/Quads and can hit 500MHz FSB. I would venture to say it's the best <$100 board you can get for a Core chip.

Sorry, forgot the link:
Here it is

$89.99-$20MIR = $69.99AR + shipping (currently $6.81) is a very decent price for a very decent motherboard

Update: Deal is now dead, here is the link to the rebate PDF since it's now gone. Remember postmark by Nov 7th:

Wish the board didn't have a double boot problem as mentioned by way too many owners. I had rather spend an extra $100 for the pro version and not have that problem.

I think it currently has a $20 rebate making it $159.99 AR.

The coolest thing about the Pro version is the CMOS reset on the I/O panel on the back of the case. If you're an overclocker that's way cool.

Any recommendations on a heatsink from newegg to use with this board and a 6600 chip?

Beta 13 fixes it. BIOS updates are pretty common with ABIT. I think Beta 12 actually fixed it first.

This is a no-frills board, the PRO version is obviously better, but it won't get much higher clocks so if you're looking for budget OC boards, this fits the bill.

I have one BIG concern. The $40 rebate submitted 8 weeks ago has not been entered in ABIT-USA system as of today. I bought from Newegg.

So take that into account.

Received my $40 three weeks ago. Mail sent from Oakland, Ca. You should e-mail/call Abit. Info should show up in the system by now.

Thanks. There is a rebate tracking on the Abit-Usa web site so that's what I use. There is no phone number on the rebate form. Do you know of the phone number to call because I couldn't find it.

Anyway the IP35-E is working great for me. Rock solid. And you are absolutely right: Memory makes all the difference!!!

Thanks again for the great thread on the IP35-E!!!

Do you have this heatsink? Main complaint about it on Newegg is cheap push pins.

I do not have the Cooler Master. But the price is right and it looks very similar to my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro which also have the push-pins. Having a couple of push-pin HSF, I can tell you that if you installed them properly they will work very well. However they are not as easy to install as they appear to be.

I do have the Tuniq 120 and that works very well for me also.

Serpent likes the Big Typhoon, but I could not find any open box on it at the egg for the last couple month.

"Problem" ???

I guess only if you think of it that way.
The double-boot "feature" doesn't bother me at all on this killer board!

This MB is a noob-magnet due to its low price.

They also love those POS OCZ RAMs cause they are cheap AR. Those flashy heat spreaders look great. Course they don't know (or too lazy to ask) that shoddy 2.1-2.2V RAMs will not boot with 1.8V JEDEC default settings. If you feed this board 1.8V JEDEC RAMs from Crucial or Kington, then it will POST. Always clear CMOS just before the 1st POST to reset MB to default settings.

I have seen boot issues with some Antec (Antec Earthwatts are okay) and Corsair PSUs. It appears the root cause may be related to the startup/shutdown circuits used by these PSUs. No compatibility issue with Fortron, Ultra, Enermax, Cooler Master, and Sparkle.

There are several confirmed reports about bad solder joints at the SATA connectors. One person could not get WOL to work. A few bitched because the Freeze Pro would not fit without trimming. Others couldn't load windows cause they didn't set the optical drive as the 1st boot device, plus change USB mouse/keyboard support from OS to BIOS. And let's not forget the Double Post (fixed with 13 Beta BIOS).

I probably should have mentioned the 1.8V issue, but it's more of cheap overclocked RAM being advertised as "DDR2-800+" when they should be DDR2-667 @ 1.8V. I've never had issues with Crucial/Corsair/SuperTalent and their JEDEC spec'd RAM.

Though an old timer (38), I had spent the last few years in tech hibernation after decades of building my own. The C2D got me out of hibernation, and with the IP35-E/e4500/tuniq, I run at 3.2ghz nearly silent. I ignore the double boot and live with it.

13 BIOS fixes the double post. See my Abit IP35-E review in MB forum. There's a link and instruction to install 13 BIOS.
