Good deal! Though I sometimes wonder about recertified units, like what broke and what was fixed, can I really trust it, etc.

IMHO, most of these factory refurbs are firmware related. So nothing was physically broke, just the firmware (software) was not working quite right.

I've used a few over the years, the Asus P6T7 Mobo I have in the main with a X5680 @ 4.7 these days was a recertified board may moons ago when I picked it up.

Picked that one up at about half price att.

Missed out on the last sale they did for 240/480s, grabbed a 960 this time around in time!

Depending on the company/product I'll stay away from refurbs but I've had nothing but solid units from crucial in SSD and RAM space so they've earned my trust.

Yup, picked up a 960gb today. Have been on Crucial since the 300 drives and never a problem.

Co-worker and I ordered ours, then we read the Anandtech review, still a kicking deal regardless for the space. I'm sure we'll see other $200 range 1TB SSDs Black Friday and as a hot sale price in 2016.

Got the 960. Not sure if I needed it or not but couldn't pass it up.

Will check health status and schedule a backup to a HDD every so often.

Received the 480GB today. Tried to initialize it and Windows wouldn't do it. Put it in another system and it failed there too.

DOA. :\

My 960gb is working fine. Power cycle count on install was 3. Partitioned and copied over 800gb from a spinny drive and changed drive letters, all was good.

Sorry to hear that. I can imagine how frustrating that is. The last time I struggled with boot issues I about tore my hair out.

Normally I'm fine with refurbished electronics, but SSDs are an area where I can't bring myself to take the risk. Storage failure can be very costly in terms of time and money, and SSDs are inherently limited lifespan devices. Granted, I'm probably missing some deals where the problem was in the support electronics, not the flash memory itself.

Damn that's not good, hopefully the return is easy.
They have a simple on-line return request process. Submitted a request this afternoon and they already issued an RMA #.

This is going in a laptop that is used for surfing and light gaming; nothing critical. I wouldn't put a refurb in my main system.
