This is Pretty warm atleast.

i have not seen a QuadCore System this loaded for this price before.

I dont' think you can build it for this price, even with the $299.00 Frys quadcore deal.

This would be great for the NON-SYSTEM building public, and not bad even for a system builder.

If you got in on all the past super hot deals you could build this for about the same price now.

Throw the PSU and 8800GTS 640mb in there and you have a system that Alienware would charge $3300.00 for, for about $1100.00

I'm tempted, even though i don't need a gaming rig, my little brother would love to get his own core2, he's stuck with my handmedown 5600 rig and 7900GTX ATm.

Must... exercise... patience... only a few more weeks...

That isn't exactly hand-me-down... granted 5600 and 7900gtx isn't top of the line... it still should play most games just fine... provided you don't demand insane settings out of them

Why is CompUSA charging me tax when they no longer have a B & M store in my state? Pretty cheasy... I bet it is another way to steel money.

When I try to check out, it says I need a store within 50 miles even though I chose delivery....??

EDIT:

Apparently the printer offer is only available for pickup. Unless I'm doing it wrong.

EDIT EDIT:

Out of stock for delivery.

Definitely a great deal.
I would have bought it if it was not from CompUSA. I would have preferred Fry's.

Reason !!!!! Yeah u guessed it right, about $50 in tax savings.

the sneaky bastards don't have any f.a.r printers for pickup in nyc
(closest is in CT) and therefore not able to be ordered as a combo

ordered 1 anyway as the 2 hr+ drive and tolls ain't worth it

edit: took screen shots of their deceptive practice

I think its because it ran out of stock. I saw on another forum someone ordered it with the printer.

I spent the time creating a decent C2D system at the egg. Much nicer motherboard, G.Skill ram, same video card, basic tower, 500 watt psu, 500 gb seagate, no card reader, came out to be about 730 before shipping.

The previous is without an OS. This is a pretty good deal IMO. Unfortunately I wont use the OS anyway as I already have Vista Ultimate. I think I may complete the order for this tower. Good find.

Actually, it games pretty damn well, only few games force me to back down a setting or 2. but i didn't give it to him, it's a community PC, i just put it in the living room, i didn't give it to anyone in particular, parents are tech illiterate so they never use it, so my sister plans to snatch it up in sept.. So i gotta build him something to use before we leave for school again.

I don't plan on getting him a quad, but this is a good way for me to get my quad and get him his own system in the process. I think if i wait i could get a better deal out of dell in the coming months though.

yes, but it's shady to advertised a combo special and not have enough of the free item in stock to be shipped with the combo (or even make it available to be deliver to those who order the combo when the free printer comes back in stock) and forced the customer to go to the b&m

instead, in my case it allow only pickup in another state (driving from new york to connecticut)

if they close more stores i'll probably need to take the amtrak to pickup the 'free' printer

just fired off a letter to customer service, see what they say and then either cancel or contact bbb and Spitzer's consumer help line at (800) 771-7755

anyone know if the psu can handle a 8800gts?

Your little brother has a better video card than my brand new rig I just built =(
Oh well, at least my Core 2 Duo is overclocked hardcore.

Actually, no. The system is dead right now since a BIOS flash failed, so I'm waiting on a new motherboard to reflash the BIOS.

I jumped on this.

Just as advertised - Quad 2.4 ghz, 2GB RAM, 500GB HDD. 1650*SE* video (I believe that's the 64 bit version with 256MB on it). Nice audio. Integrated video, or you can use the ATI card. Since my ATI 1650SE failed immediately after I bought this, and I'm going to have to fight with Acer to get another one (I don't want to risk my rebate with CompUSA!) it's not fun. I slapped an nVidia 6200 in there, and it's fine for now, but it's still annoying.

It's fast.

The only issue I'm having is I'd hoped to make this one PC into a do-everything PC - VMWare sessions with my 2003 Server, VMWare sessions with my Windows Home Server, and also a Vista Media Center. I'm not impressed with VMC's quality of recording ('Best') compared with the same tuner hardware in Media Center 2005 with the same sources, and I am also seeing a slowdown or skipping in the TV signal, which didn't exist in a Compaq AMD3000 box with MCE2005. I have a feeling this is going to handle VMWare and server jobs perfectly, but I'm going to have to revert to the MCE2005 box for my three tuners to keep working as desired.

Also, note a few things:
1. The Intel Quad heatsink is so large there's really only a way to slap in (total) 3 3.5" drives in this. 1.5GB (3x500) and that's all I can physically fit without major disassembly of the Quad's heatsink and such every time I take a drive out, which isn't a viable option for me.

2. The case is made in such a way that there's no obvious way to place another 5.25" drive into the machine without removing the power supply, a design that I find annoying. Typical is a front bezel that can be removed to put the drives (include the 3.5" drives!) in place, but I don't see how to do that with this case.

3. Intel Viiv - so it's got 6 SATA ports on the motherboard, 2 of which are under so many other cables that I'm going to have to get tweezers out if I ever want to use them.

4. Gigabit networking, Intel NIC.

5. My big concern, as noted above, is the ATI1650SE video - it's dead, and I'm curious what Acer is going to do or say. I'm hopeful they'll simply ship a 1650SE to me with a self-addressed box so I can ship the old unit right back to them. They'd better not want to replace the entire unit.

6. The case is modest in size (but not small). There's no immediately obvious way to have both 3 3.5" HDDs and an 8800GTS in the box. I thought about putting my 8800GTS into this machine, but the case layout is such that I'd have to remove one of the 3.5" HDDs in order for the video card to fit (due to the length of the 8800), and I don't like that idea. If only I could see how to remove the front bezel and add drives that way, it would be much easier.

7. The drives bays are 'push in, lock down' type, which makes it very, very convenient to add drives, without needing any tools or screws. The rest of the case is similarly set up.

What is the power supply like? Would the case fit an 8600 GTS without moving stuff around?

Just ordered this deal couple of days ago...I didn't see any printer deal though...

Any ideas on what video to upgrade to? I like the geforce 8800 for $380 on tigerdirect:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...pNo=2824836&CatId=2514
Would I need to upgrade the power supply?

How's the radeon x1650 on this system perform?

I plan just to game on this system...also plan on getting a 22" Samsung 226cw when they are out...

Thanks!

Virtually any video card upgrade will need a new Power Supply.

I would suggest nothing less than a 500watt good quality PSU, something with minimum dual 12v rails of 18Amps or more per rail.
