I am wondering about this video possibility at CompUSA (I already have a - albeit slow - GeForce card). How does the Creative Labs Video Blaster stack up against the video in the AIW? It's only $99-$50 MIR = $49 net.

if BB does drop the price this would be an amazing deal... 150 - 100$ rebates from compusa... I couldnt resist that.... I have a full day tomorrow though... going to be hard to swing anything like that.... should I call bestbuy in the morning what time would they drop it do you thinkg?

which video blaster? I cant imagine a video blaster being ANYWHERE near as good as the 8500.. its like michael jordan going up against a paraplegic infant at 1 on 1

What chipset is used in the video blaster?

gf4 mx < aiw 8500
gf4 ti >/= aiw 8500
gf3 ti500 = aiw8500
gf3 =/< aiw 8500
gf3 ti200 < aiw 8500

Anything below is basically apples and oranges and cannot be compared to a 128 mb ddr 550 mhz 8500

Just wanted to let you guys know that I also e-mailed CompUSA about the rebates and got the exact same response so it seems good to go. They must be getting a lot of inquiries and using a canned response because the response I got and posted on FW has the exact same typo as the one music posted. Kinda funny, huh? Doesn't surprise me though cuz when I tried calling them they were useless. I had to explicitly explain to the CSR how the original UPC couldn't be in two places at once and that was why I was calling to ask about it. After she finally understood she said she didn't know what to do and to try calling one of the stores.

the geforce4 ti's have a slightly better edge than this... not sure about the ram

The ATI AIW Radeon 8500 128MB Core/Mem speeds are synchronous. 275/275-DDR or 275/550

Just checked BB's website and it says that the ATI AIW 8500 128MB card is *NOT* available for in-store pickup. Does this mean that they're not a stock item in the B&M's??

gf3 ti500 = aiw8500 while sometimes you may get comparable framerates, the faetureset is just not there for the geforce3

Now that the 8500 drivers have matured. In someinstances it beats out the geforce4 ti 4200 128mb and 64 mb and once in awhile is on par with a 4400.

with 8500 prices where they are, there is really no good reason to look at a geforce 3 anylonger

if you dont believe me, check out the bench's over at sharkyextreme.com and elswhere.... (dont bother looking at the anand benchmarks they are old, with old drivers. They dont keep up well on vid card updates round here anymore)

Video Blaster is not a video card (ie - not a GFx or ATI8xxx or 9xxx). Look on the creative labs website for more info. Purely for video.

I might actually be up for one if BB drops it to $150...
