Without all the add-ons is this card worth the price for the Gaming Performance? All I want is a great gaming card. I don't need all the extra stuff. What would all of you recommend?

If you don't need all the extra crap and your primary focus is on getting as much fps as you possibly can, this card is not for you

COMPUSA also has a gainward gf4 64 mb ddr ti4200 for $136 after instant rebate. This card nearly outperforms the 8500 in just about every benchmarking test. But it is slower compared to other ti4200s because it uses the 3.5ns ram instead of 3.3ns. Though, this card doesn't have all the l33t features the AIW has, such as video capture, composite in/out, pvr capabilities etc

Ccity has a $150 pny gf4 ti4200. This also uses the 3.5ns ram and will outperform the 8500 in nearly every benchmark.

Both ti4200s have an s-video out.

ATI is coming out with a component input add-on dongle soon. Component > svideo > composite > rf

Video Blaster is not a video card (ie - not a GFx or ATI8xxx or 9xxx). Look on the creative labs website for more info. Purely for video.

I might actually be up for one if BB drops it to $150...

Well i do recall a videoblaster that used the gf2 gts chipset a few years ago in pcgamer.


Back on topic, since bb is saying that the aiw 8500 128mb ddr is $199 (but not comfirming it), can i have cusa call them to pm? Or do they do some sort of weird confirmation for pm?

I just told them to call BB and they verified the price to be 199.99. The CSR just asked "Radeon 8500 All in Wonder" on the phone and didn't ask specificly for the 64M or 128M version. They did a return/resale thing after that for 199.89.

They did say that my rebates would now be invalid because of the pricematch. However, I did make a copy of the original $249.99 receipt. Should I use that one or the new 199.89 one? Anyone have experience with CompUSA rebates after PMing?

Will this work with Win98se? The one I bought has it listed on the side of the box, but the one my frined bought has it listed on the side but its blacked out with marker?

Checked TCA's website today and both my rebates have been approved. This was with the 199 BB pricematch too. So the 99 price is a go. Sure beats my old R7200 AIW!
