Yeah, mine was cancelled too, but I can't believe all of you are blaming AMD. The rules pretty clearly said that you need to be a Gold or Platinum member to be eligible for promotions like these.

Consider yourself lucky if you got it, if not, you can hardly act like AMD is some evil corporation (IMO at least). You win some and lose some...move on.

NOT ON THE DAY WE ORDERED!

Just got off the phone with productshippingcenter.com (1-888-333-1600) He said my order was cancelled becasue I did not qualify or ordered more than 1. I did order just one, but what about the idiots that they shipped 5 or more too.

It sucks, but life goes on.

Yeah, I agree that the guys that figured out how to order more than one and then went straight to listing them on eBay really screwed a lot of people out of this. I was looking for a cheap solution to upgrade my brother's 800 MHz. I'm thinking that I'll try the Athlon Mobile chip overclock route and see how that goes.

I just called the www.productshippingcenter.com number.

The rep told me that my order was cancelled by AMD because there was a duplicate order (not that I know, I know I only ordered one) or because the order was invalid due to some issue with my eligibility to the AMD program.

He then gave me the url to contact to clear up any issues that I experienced
http://solution.provider.amd.com

I have yet to receive a phone call from TD either at home or on my cell...

I don't think that selling on eBay screwed anyone. I think this whole thing is a 'market saturation' deal with AMD. Nobody was buying the 64 setups because they were too damn expensive. Why pay $300 for a chip that doesn't really do much more than a $90 chip?

Well, now there are several thousand more setups out there, in enthusiasts hands. That's a good thing for AMD.

And on top of that, people can't really complain, because, due to the nature of the deal, if you didn't get it, you probably weren't really supposed to in the first place.

All that being said, the boards are selling refurbed for $50 here and there. So AMD is probably still making a good amount of $$$ on the whole deal.

I do not know who has the final say-so, but I sort of feel like www.productshippingcenter.com is a middle man or 3rd party. I believe they cancelled the orders this morning. You won't find out if you eligible or ineligible until you receive a phone call from TD. Just my 2 cents.

Well mine got cancelled as well today. I called up AMD and got their generic response crap so I called up tiger. They told me that AMD cancelled the orders and that I should send an email to SOLUTION.PROVIDER@AMD.COM and plead my case. I gave it a try and hopefully it will help. Everyone else should give it a shot too. It couldn't hurt.

I think they lost millions on the deal. The motherboard isn't refurbed, they probably owe at least $75 to ASUS for that. The heatsink is of very good quality, copper Thermaltake, worth at least $35. Far Cry - at least $25. So they get less than $50 for the 3200, and the chip sells for under $300! I don't call that making money!

Yeah, I'm sure Asus sells them the board for $75. I mean, the board is only made to support their chip. The heatsink might sell to YOU for $35, but it certainly isn't going to sell to AMD for that much. The cost to produce of these chips is probably cheap...real cheap (R&D, etc aside) the actually cost to produce a single chip is probably in the $ingle digit range. So, are they making their marked up $500 on this deal? No. Are they probably still making money AND getting their chips out? Sure.

Edit: The guy I just talked to at Tiger Direct did mention that duplicate orders were the reason the 'cancelled' orders were 'put on hold'.

Fool. Millions? You think they pay asus 75 for the motherboard? I don't think so. Probably half that. Far Cry they probably pay 5-10 dollars per copy. The heatsink is definitely not worth 35. Maybe 20.

Being conservative, that adds up to
50 or so for the mobo,
10 for the game,
20 for the heatsink

Thats 80. Which leaves around 100 for the processor. I'm sure they cost around that. Even conservatively, they end up even. However, since this is all such a packaged deal, I wouldn't be suprised if they even make a little.

Don't take all these numbers to heart, they are estimates, but I'd wager they are roughly accurate.

Just got off the phone with AMD. The rep just received an email while I was talking to him (he paused for a minute or so to read it). He says there was in fact a problem in the ordering system, and that I should wait 2 business days, and call into 1-800-800-8300 to verify the status of my order, which should be replaced. If the order is not replaced, TigerDirect (his words) will then have more information on how to get in touch with marketing at AMD in order to escalate the issue and find out why it is not being replaced. He also said that the people over at TigerDirect are in the dark on most of this at the moment.

I want to believe...

HA HA HA

Yes, everybody is out there to screw YOU. It costs them NEXT TO NOTHING to produce stuff, and they ALL RIP YOU OFF by charging outrageous prices. Sounds like some people need to finish High School.
Maybe then you would learn about SUPPLY and DEMAND, MARKET VALUE, and PROFITABILITY.
If they could have sold the SHORT SUPPLY 3200 for $300, but then turn around and sell it to you for $50, they LOST MONEY. PERIOD. And ASUS will gladly give them their already cutthroat priced mobos for a song.

Now, granted, the prices I'm talking about are what these items would cost me if I wanted to buy them. So instead of losing $250, they maybe lose $150, but my point is still valid that they LOSE MONEY on this deal.

I think you're right, some people probably do need to go back to high school.

They lose nothing. I wouldn't have bought one of their 64 bit chips without this deal, and I'm relatively sure there are hundreds of others who feel the same way.

It reminds me of something I heard Dr. Laura say a long time ago: "Sure, you wanted your fancy plate of spaghetti with some garlic bread, and all you got was a few strands of noodles and a meatball...but isn't that better than nothing?"

This deal was obviously to get the product out. I'm sure ASUS did sell them the MB for 'a song' or darn close to it.

You think that they're doing this so people who actually build computers will buy one of them and then say, 'HEY! This is great! I can make one person a computer now. YEY! Thanks for this good deal on one item, AMD!'? I don't. I think they're doing it so people, like the people on this forum, will write threads about how they overclocked their cpu's, and what a great chip this is.'

Grow up, dude.

There are enough buyers in the market paying for the chip what they are asking right now, until the SUPPLY will start exceeding the DEMAND, and then prices will go down. Econ 101. Judging the market by a sample of 1 (you) IS foolish.

This deal was obviously to get the product out. I'm sure ASUS did sell them the MB for 'a song' or darn close to it.

Yes. Conspiracy theories are wonderful, aren't they?

I don't see where a company partnering with another company to offer an introductory deal to get your product out in the market place is a 'conspiracy theory', but whatever you say. You're the board genius around here, so I guess what you say flies.

Me too...cancelled. But AMD still rules! I'll just keep using my 2500+ @2.2GHz, until the 939 socket comes down in price.

I would like to comment on a few things I'm seeing here on this thread. Not to add to the fire or anything of that nature. Just my 2 cents in the name of wisdom and harmony.

The people that worry about what others do or don't do is something you just need to leave alone. If you're into rap, then this would be called "playa hating" don't do it. For the rest of us, it's just simply called worrying about yourself. And most of us do it.

Facts,

*Someone is always going to have more money than you. A fact of life.

*Someone is always going to take advantage if they can. Ordering 2 Amd64 / Motherboard bundles or
taking more shrimp than you should at a buffet. It's just a fact of life.

Lets say you have a lot of junk and decide to have a garage sale. You know ahead of time or while you are marking the prices on your items that someone is going to pester you to get that .50 cent glass for a dime. They may even decide to take all of them at a dime. Not the best example, but it works.

My point is, AMD, a Billion dollar company knew some of these would end up on eBay. Did it stop them from offering the bundle, no. Does it affect you and I? Prolly not.

Common sense goes a long way, minding your own buisness goes even further.

I'm not saying this should be the law of the land, just offering up a different opinion that maybe some of you will think about. If you don't, then fine. The world, your friends, even these forums are full of asses and jokers. What are you?

With all that said, I hope I get this bundle, as well as all the others, from the people that want it, need it and even the people taking advantage. So far, the reports coming in look promising. I agree with what someone said earlier about the TRUE cost of this to AMD. It's a lot less than most of you think. I couldn't really guess what that cost might be. But its low. Also, AMD has what is called a marketing budget. I'm sure this promo was part of that.

Regards.

The Newegg Farcry deal with the 2800+, Farcry, and Chaintech mobo at $223 is still a good deal. This one was obviously better, but those of you that needed an upgrade can still get one at a reasonable price.

I agree with you 100%
I am one of those guys who already has the Asus MB and Athlon 64 3200. But boy did I pay. $110 for the MB and $400.00 for the CPU back in November, from Newegg...
