Out of curiosity, did you get a tshirt too?

Yes, is what everyone else has been saying. Just a little bonus

Well thats very cool, although I'll be the first to complain about it not being a XXL (when I get it tomorrow)! My superheroesque physique requires a little more room. But I'm sure someone will appreciate it when I give it to them.

Yeah, kind of a bummer that it's a large. Oh well. Give it to the wife or kids for a night shirt....

I finally received an email back from AMD concerning the rest of us who did not get in on the deal. It does not matter to them that we registered and could not take the test or anything else. The answer sucks!

The server issues have been rectified. However, at this time your company is not eligible to participate in the AMD Employee Purchase Program as required by the Official Rules limiting eligibility to ?employees of AMD Solution Provider members at the gold or platinum level companies?.

Please click here for the official rules:

Although you may have received an order confirmation, it has now been canceled and your credit card will not be billed.

I think if it hasn't changed to shipped by tomorrow morning then, yes, that's a good assumption.

How does one become a "gold" company?? I actually build and sell PCs as a side job, so I wonder if I could qualify. Their site still won't let me register.....

OK, just installed everything, and I must say that it was the easiest installation of a CPU/Mobo that I have experienced. I have built about 15 computers, and it seems something always goes worng, but not this time.

I will also say that I am using a 300W PS and no problems yet. Have not run games or anything, but seems to be good now. Also, I was worried about the memory, since what I had was not on the approved list (bought some at Best Buy over the weekend, K-Byte DDR400), but there were no problems at all. Booted right away.

Oh, and man is this fast. I upgraded from a 1700+ with 512MB ram, and there is already a noticeable difference.

I really hope they do not cancel the orders already placed, as this is an awesome setup!

How does AMD's answer suck? I've been watching this thread from the beginning. I didn't even bother trying to get the motherboard and processor. Why? Because I read the official rules and while I admit that don't know what a gold or platinum member of AMD market builder is, I guarantee the consulting company I work for is neither. Anyone who tried to (or did) exploit this offer knowing full well that they weren't eligible is in my opinion no better than the eBay dirtbags who do this sort of thing all the time for a quick buck.

You lied and cheated to get the deal and when AMD says "Sorry, you aren't eligible" you have the audacity to flare up in self-righteous indignation? AMD doesn't owe us anything. Neither does Intel, nor any other company for that matter. Why does people's morality fly right out the window as soon as they think they can cheat to save a buck? Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't raised that way. Personally, I'm glad AMD had the tenacity to tell it like it is.

And you need to go read the whole thread again before you start writing words you will regret. THe rules that were on the site stated if you were and enthusiast it was for you too. Maybe if you had tried to register, you would have seen those rules. We had no way of knowing the rules were hacked at the time. These posted rules are not the same. Check your facts before you start in on me! AND I AM TELLING IT LIKE IT IS!

LOL. Okay, bro...good for you. But you're going to hold out on any deal that might be a pricing error or corporate mistake (i.e. multiple rebates, stacking coupons) or has ambiguous terms, then I recommend you just open an account with Best Buy and pay MSRP for everything.

I agree feeling owed something from AMD is stupid. Had they cancelled my and everybody else's order, I wouldn't have flinched. But I'm not going to call people who got in on this deal crooks when there was an undeniable indication that their actions were okay.

Argh...I wonder if they will reopen registration. I tried to register last week but the system kept crapping out after the agreements page and so I was unable to get a login ID. I am working at RadioShack for the summer and I'm wondering if that makes me eligible for this deal. I'm hoping that they will make registration available and keep this promotion running until July 22 like they said they would (although it did say until supplies last, but it seems like a lot of people got their orders canceled so maybe there are some left).

It is likely that I will not receive my order. It is alright. It was not a totally legitimate order anyway. I, however, have read a lot about the Athlon 64 and am increasingly interested in buying a setup. I am one of those who cannot afford to pay $$$ for one yet, so I will have to wait until the prices have gone down. $192 cannot even buy the CPU, so this is definitely a good deal. I envy those who got it, but I am not mad. I snoozed, so I lost. This happens to almost all good deals.

Before this thread was started, I hadn't even paid any attention to the A64. I have been an Intel user for quite some time. It is a good "effort" for AMD. They sold some goods to some people at a loss, but the publicity they have got is probably worth the loss. Just look how many views the FW thread has got.

Don't worry. I received my combo today and they have yet to charge my AMEX.
