If you buy this case, plan on RMAing the PS at least once. After two of mine failed I just gave up and bought a nice Thermaltake.

The case itself is pretty nice.

Its dirt cheap - its an awsoem case, I have one, has a nice PSU too. The PSU by itself sells for around 50

What's the warranty on these Sonata P/S's? One died last month in a Sonata that's about a year old - if I can get it replaced under warranty I'd be happy.

Yes, Antec SmartPowers cannot be trusted (if you put them on a 24/7 load). They should still include the AQ3 (3 year) warranty from Antec but I'm not sure if Antec honors the PSUs that come with cases.

Compare the price - these Antec's, IMO, are budget PSU's, treat them like budget PSU's and you'll be fine. Putting them on a full load from a dual core system, with a nice video card, 3-4 hard drives, etc. and you're asking for trouble - that's a completely different price range you should be looking at.

For most people who aren't doing a distributed computing project 24/7 and playing lots of games, I think Antec is just fine. They may not be as good as in the past, but I don't think I could say that they're bad.

bought a sonata 2 for a build for one of the kid's friends... psu died after 5 months... i thought it was a 430 watt, but they sent me back a 450 watt... they don't seem to be very good psu's... but the case is definitely nice... and it's a 3 yr warranty... seems worth $40...

these are good deals that OP has been offering about every other month. Another good deal, which alternates with the Sonata one, is Antec Solo ($80-30 rebate). The Solo is a better designed/featured case, a virtual clone of P150, without the silly CD drive door. It's more stylish and quieter than Sonata, if you don't mind buying a separate PSU.

Thanks for the tip, 2foot!

Sonata is a really nice case IMO.
Even if the psu goes tits up, $40 for the box is a bargain.

The UL code on my NeoHE 550 S0609 (mfg. Sept. 2006) shows Antec, but earlier versions showed Seasonic.

I have a Cyberpower 800AVR and use the PowerPanel Personal Edition software for monitoring loads, voltages, shutdown sequence, etc. With my OCZ PowerStream 520w (original version) installed the total load on the UPS (my rig + 18" LCD that draws 50w) was showing 198w, and now that I have the NeoHE installed it shows 148w. That equates to a savings of $5.54 per month if I leave my rig on 24/7 since I pay $.154 per kWhr!

Once I receive the rebate the psu will pay for itself in 10 months.

The SmartPower 2.0 450w psu in the Sonata II carries the 3 yr. Antec warranty. I've used at least 20 of these cases over the last year and have had zero psu failures. The psu runs C2D / AMD DC rigs with 7950GT/X1900's, pair of HDD's, etc. without breaking a sweat. It will also power an 8800GTS just fine.

Just ordered one. I have had the Sonata 1 with the 380psu for 2 years running my 3200+ at 3800+ speeds, also a overclocked 7900gt without any problems. I paid 99.00 for my first one from Monarch(with no trouble I might add) and 40.00 is just to good to pass up.

Now all I need is a 125.00 Opteron 185

Contrary to what others are stating the Antec Neo HE-550 is a great PSU for performance systems. I'm running dual Wester Digital Raptors, four case fans, two DVD-RW drives, and an X1950 graphics card. My 500W Ultra couldn't handle it but this Antec runs great. Highly recommended.

I'm not a big fan of Antec, but for $40 shipped the Sonata II is a steal IMO. Nice case, very sturdy, and you get a decent PSU with it. Perfect for a secondary system. I'm still using the Sonata I for my kids PC and it's great for their system.

I think $50 for that PSU is a good deal, but I personally won't use Antec PSU's in a high end system. I fell they 're perfect for low to mid range systems however.

This is one of the best engineered cases I've ever seen. It has separate adjustable internal ducting for venting the CPU. The 5.25" bays snap in from the front, and the 3.5" bays snap in from the side with the side open.
