*DEAD* Antec True Power 430W - $66

Got my 430W TP, installed it and am disappointed. In a computer with a P4 1.6a, CD, and floppy, the 12v line is lower than my Enhance 350W PS. All voltages are lower except for +3.3v. Using MBM5, to compare, I had 5.11v on +5v line, and 11.43v on +12v, (12v+ = why I wanted to upgrade), now have 4.95v and 11.31v,(drops to 11.25v momentarily), on the 12v line. For $66? It's going back if I can't have rock solid 12v on the +12v of this Antec PS.

Yup, I got the same case for $119 at Fry's in December. After 2 weeks, it went on sale for $99, so I got $20 back via price guarantee. It was just on sale for $99 again last weekend.

Thanks for the deal! Got a 430W Truepower. Those things are usually like $100 in Hawaii. This will be perfect for the new system I'm putting together. The extra power will come in handy when I upgrade again in a couple years to a 10ghz hammer. I bought an antec 300w about 5-6 years ago and its been through an upgrade and still ticking.

Yes, if you are electronically inclined and know what you are doing. Just like a TV, a PS has high voltage capacitors that can retain current even when unplugged. Enough current to shoot you across the room.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that this 450 watt Antec is actually a more powerful power supply and is for sale cheaper than the 430 that many of you are ordering. I'm not trying to crap on your selections, just point out a different offering, if it is comperable (for less money).

OK - The 430 watt version has 80,000 MTBF, while the 450 I linked has 50,000 MTBF. Advantage 430
The 430 watt version has separate +5 and +3.3 circuitry with a maximum combined voltage across +5, +3.3 and +12 being 410 v.
The 450 watt version shares circuitry on the +5 and +3.3 volt lines and maximum voltage for these two is 250 volts. Advantage 430.

The 450 is still a good way to save an additional $7. However, it is important to realize that if your machine has quite a few pci devices and drives, or is a dual cpu setup, necessitating lots of dedicated power to the cps(s), the True Power version is probably the safer bet.

Yes, junior members have no place here.

Sparkle is mediocre at best. Certainly not the best PS out there, but the antec out classes it by a wide margin in silence, rail separation, actual power delivered and cooling.

Pony up the extra bucks, it'll save you headaches later.
