I'll have to hit this one. I just got a drive and all the cheap media went out of stock or no longer on sale in my area. 2.4x isn't fast, but it's cheap enough that I can live with it.

True, online may be a problem for trying to use coupons. But in store, depending on the store, coupons may work. My OM is pretty good about taking Staples or OD coupons. Of course, I wouldn't have to use Staples or OD coupons if OM would actually send me some

Bad news. I went to OM to pre-buy these DVDs. I handed them a staples coupon (which they've taken before with no problem) and the CSR says she can't take those. So I said that I've used them before and that I wanted to talk to the manager (who knows me and is very nice). Anyway, manager confirms that his store has just been told by the corporate office that they can no longer take competitors coupons. Manager said OM recently merged/were bought out by someone and that this is a new rule just put into effect.

Anyone else been told this? I have one other OM in town, I'll try them later and see if they have the same story.

uhoh..strange they'd do that..Staples will definitely love to have competitor coupons..they(at the moment) see it as keeping you from going to OM or OD..they want your OD/OM/etc. business at Staples..lol..saw a cashier chase a customer in the parking lot with a pkg of CD blanks trying to keep this woman from going to OD to get them from OD at the OD's better price once..the customer was shocked by the act but came back in and Staples PMed to OD's brand CDRs plus 10%..have seen that woman numerous times at my local Staples..always has a buggyfull of stuffz..never seen her at OD tho..

This is a great deal even if they only burn at 2.4X but I thought that Ricoh disks could go up to 8X.

RICOHJNPR00, i think burn at 4x on some burners. Liteon 401s and NEC ... Most burners will only do 2.4x.
I'm sure that the ricoh at can go up to 8x is the RICOHJNPR01.
