DEAD - price raised to $28AR +shipping

Ripped from TB, SD, and others. Of course, it's a Newegg "shell shocker" deal, so it's not really a secret.

Limited time deal, rebate in form of a VISA card, 2% Bing CB available, yada yada.

Anybody have the overscan/underscan working on a 4350 via HDMI? I had it working perfectly on my older 3450 until it died.

I use a 4350 in my HTPC over HDMI to a 720p (1366x768) Sylvania HDTV. It works best when I set it to 1280x720 and let the TV's built-in scaler handle things. The TV doesn't pass the proper EDID (?) info back so the computer doesn't get the resolutions available. Only problem with that is when the resolution is an "HD/TV resolution" it kicks the card into UVD mode and doesn't reduce clockspeed or voltage. I need to edit the BIOS and fix that sometime. Especially with the other problem--it's picky about the HDMI handshaking--it can lose all video and/or audio if things aren't just so. Pretty irritating and definitely affects the WAF.

Dang, not a bad price at all... wish I could jump on this but I'm in the "no spending" month right now... My CC appreciates it but dang it, this is a good deal!

"The 4550 will do everything perfectly that an HTPC needs to do. Even if you were building an uber HTPC, the only reason you'd need more than the 4550 is if you wanted to clean up SD images more (the 4670 does a better job than the 4550), if you wanted to game, or if you wanted to bitstream lossless audio (the 4550 still does lossless audio, but it only does LPCM)." Can the 4350 decode 1080p .mkv h.264 files? I'm using VLC right now with a dual core Phenom at 3 ghz. and it stutters a ton with 1080p content.

"AMD states that while both the 4550 and 4350 support full hardware Blu-ray decode acceleration, the 4350 may not be able to fully accelerate a high bitrate 2nd stream for picture in picture scenarios. We didn't have the opportunity to test this on our 4350 but we'll be following up with more HD decode tests in a future HTPC article. Both GPUs should decode a single stream 1080p Blu-ray movie without any issues, offloading 100% of the decode pipeline to the GPU; we confirmed that the 4550 works as expected and we're assuming the 4350 is the same given that the hardware is identical."

Get MPC/zoom players + ffdshow or CoreAVC codecs. VLC is a good all-in-one out of the box solution, but it's not flexible enough.

Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPCHC) has a decoder built in that works your video card for h.264 decoding.

That and its a damn good player.

i have this card. it works great for 1080p mkv's
MPC-hc does have a built in decoder that works with this card.
i'm on a coreduo chip and cpu usage is 10% or below playing a 1080p movie complete with sound through hdmi.
