damn, just called in, the CSR told me they couldnt give me the price from the memphis ad, since i lived in a different area. i asked her doesnt officemax pricematch to their own stores, and she said "no, not to ads, they have ads for a reason". so i guess they dont pricematch to ADS in different areas.

this sucks, i think ill try tomorrow.

she also told me someone called in earlier for the same item and she told them the ad didnt start until thr 25th.

she told me i could only order from ads if i lived in the same area that had the same ad. damn, sucks for me. i guess ill try tomorrow or sunday, and hope i get a nicer CSR.

Hmm....the CSR I talked to said the exact opposite thing.

I asked if she could pricematch to the Memphis ad and she said "We pricematch our competitor's ad so we better be able to pricematch our own store's ad!"

Just try back again and hope you get a better CSR

yea, im going to try tomorrow morning again. one of the reasons she said was that the ads are for stores in some areas only, and its their individual choice. she told me some stores in different locations might not even carry the same product! i kind of agreed, but i still believe they should pricematch their own stores, although it does say that some in sotre offers cant be done over phone ordering. she seemed nice, but probably very strict, and abided to the policies very fundamentally. thanks though, ill try again tomorrow. i might tell them as one suggested, that i am on a business trip with my dad. if that still doesnt work, ill go with the cdrw deal i posted, for the 48x drive. it works for me definately, since i live in the area.

Keep calling until you get a co-operative CSR. Mine went thru without a problem. It seems that every CSR interprets these regional ads differently.

from my own experience, Hi-Val never sends your rebate/money. They suck! I had 5 Hi-val rebates & still waiting ... for over 2 years now!

Not a good idea, if a couple thousand people called the same CSR with the same exact order it would send up a red flag and call attention to this deal and that something we don't want to happen. I've only seen one person with a post saying they couldn't get the deal on the first try.

shoot, called again. got rejected again, the CSR informed me that this sale starts TOMORROW (the 25th). i asked her if i could do it tomorrow, and be able to pricematch, and she was very nice and said i could. she also said i could order online (easy coupon ) and she said i could also and receieve the same rebates/price. i asked her if this was possible veen though it was an in-store ad, and she said, yes it was, and if the price didnt show up online, i could call in and have them adjust it for me. at least she did turn me down on the deal like last night's CSR. i think ill try tomorrow morning, when the sale starts, i found out that the ad IS next week's ad. as i checked my local current ad to the one online, and they were different.

well, she was very nice about it, and helpful, so i hope i get someone alike when i try tomorrow. cheers!

Are you sure about that zip code? is the rebate form zip code invalid?

Yes I'm sure it's been confirm by OfficeMax. The correct zip code for McAllen TX is 78502. This goes rebate to the parago/RebateHQ.com process center.

Anyone having trouble finding a suitable 25 off 100 coupon to use for the burner deal ? I checked google and also the many other posts regarding OfficeMax coupons on heavy wallet but nothing has turned up that hasn't already expired. Most of the coupons expired yesterday the 24th. I'm wondering if anyone has a scan that i can show the delivery person ?

Well picked up my first one today. Ended up with a Verbatim is there any way to overclock this or do I need to keep hunting for the other model. I ordered the others over this weekend. Today one the first attempt the CSR refused to give the price. (I had a first timer ordering for me) I asked for the phone and gave the well what good is your pricematch policy if you will not pricematch your own stores. The deal went through. hehe Again OM CSRs rule.

This is the way I did the deal. I order on-line the CenDyne 40x12x48 & Hi Val 16X (74 min) 100-Pack CDR, a hour later called CS and asked to get the price adjusted on my order, of course the CSR knew what the prices were since she done this order before, but she pointed out that the Hi Val 16X (74 min) 100-Pack CDR were on backorder and it looked like they may be discontinuing the item and not restocking the item. I ask to substituted the Value Disc 200 pack 32x CD-Rs selling for $4.99 after a $35 rebate, but they are on backorder too, however they will be getting more stock of the Value Disc CD-Rs.
I am concerned about the fact the Value Disc rebate, like the Hi Val rebate, has to be postmarked within 7 days of purchase.

CenDyne 40x12x48 $69.99 + Value Disc 200 pack 32x CD-Rs $39.99 = $109.98 - $40 CenDyne MIR - Value Disc $35 MIR - $25 off $100 OfficeMax coupon = $9.98

i guess im just an unlucky person. i called AGAIN this morning, when the sale started. the first thing i asked/said was if i could order from an ad out of state. the CSR checked with the supervisor and said no, it is an area only offer. so, i gave in and didnt argue. i just asked to order from a deal (48x burner) from my own area. CSR told me i could do this, first bad thing that happen was she said the burner was out of stock in my area. so theyd have to backorder it for me and i might not get it in time for the rebate. well, i said okay, since i can always call and check up on it and cancel if necessary. i ordered cdrs also, which they had in stock. then, when i tried using my 25 off 100 coupon over the phone, she said it was not in the database. well, she checked with the supervisor and he told her i should have a postcard with that code i got in the mail and i could use it if i fax the postcard in. once again...i found the code at big wallet, and didnt have a postcard. i asked her if i could use an online code, and she said "maybe" as long as it is from a legit coupon site. she told me to email it to her email (the links). and she will call me back after she recieves my email. well, i found a couple on google.com and emailed her with the links...and since then, ive been waiting all day with no phone call. -_-

im glad you guys got the deal off, i guess im just unlucky. maybe ill try next week. im sure i can count on you mysticman for finding new deals every week so i dont have to worry . heh...

I just got off the phone with an OM CSR and she said that my items weren't going to ship to me until 9/3. She put in a note saying that i wanted them by August 27th (though 9/3 will work....she just started typing the note without me asking ) and if there were any problems OM was suppose to give me a call.
I did ask her if any of the items were backordered and she said no....so we'll see what happens. Though I'm not expecting anything on the 27th.

My experience was weird. First call, the CSR had to xfer me to a "specialist" to adjust the cdrw price. She asks what store i'm PM'ing. "Memphis, Tenn". <click> dont know if the phone glitched coincidentally at that point, or if she hung up on me.

i call back 15min later, get a new CSR, order the stuff, add the coupon (she has to ask someone how to enter the code), then the PM fun begins... she has to call someone else to check the prices. 10 min later, she says "Cant do the PM, cuz the PM store has to be in the same State as your shipping address. Do u want it shipped to a diff addr, or cancel the order, or put it On Hold and try to PM a diff store?"

i dont know anyone in Memphis, dont want to start @ Square One, so "just put it On Hold".

Call back a few hours later (new CSR), and ask to cancel my order. She pulls it up, the wrong price catches her eye, and she says "That price isn't right. Let me fix that."
ND> "what prices are in there?"
CSR> "cendyne $69.99, hi-val $49.99".
i thought she was trying to "fix" the burner back to 99.99, but turns out she has seen so many orders with the hi-val's she immediately knew they were supposed to be 30.

so... yada yada yada, she fixes the Hival price, my pre-rebate total is $80 or so, and boy am i tired.

i dont know what happened between calls... i was under the impression the PM was denied, but they did it anyways. Much better than trying to deal w/the dingleberries @ OM B&M.
