Hope you didn't already BUY it. This sale, as indicated in the initial post starts 5/19/02 so you aren't going to be able to get the $50 MIR on earlier purchases. I believe there is still a $20 MIR on the burner on Staples.com now, but the $50 one won't be around for another week...

What $20 coupon are you referring to? Are you talking about the ones that get mailed out every once in a while? Is there supposed to be another mailing soon, because I haven't gotten any lately. Thanks.

Hoeboy & cashman

People have been buying these CenDyne CD-RW drive with rebate from OfficeMax four 4 or 5 months now and have been posting that generally they have received their rebate checks in 4 to 8 weeks without any problems. Staples has only been selling the CenDyne brand CD-RW drive for 3 or 4 weeks and last week was their first rebate offer on the CenDyne drive, but both Staples and OfficeMax use RebateHQ.com for processing the CenDyne drive rebates.

16mb of buffer cache does not really do didly for a drive that has buffer under-run. Why bother?

A good but pointless gimmick

The 16Mb buffer reduce un-wanted buffer underruns. Of course burnproof technology will prevent buffer underruns but the less buffer underruns the better.

This is insane!!!
I bought HP9300 10x8x32x for $205 (was 2 years ago)
now there are drives over 24x write for under $50.

btw buffers for early drives had 2mb or 4mb buffer, this one has got 16!!!

have other 24x or ~40x drives also got such large buffers?

Based on what people who have bought the 32x CenDyne over the last few months are saying about which rebadged drive they have received, I would estimate that 15% to 20% of the 32x CenDyne drives are rebadged Mitsumi and the other 80% to 85% are either a Lite-ons or a Verbatims (rebadged Lite-on) mfg drive, so that why you're having touble finding a rebadged Mitsumi drive in stock.

I guess I was lucky to get the Mitsumi from Office Max last week. I thought I would take it back to get the Staples deal. Now I think its worth the extra $13 and just keep it.

are all three of the cendynes compatible with nero, because nero's website doesn't have cendyne as a compatible writer. i mean, its one of the choices, but none of them are listed. if you guys know if it is or not, i'd appreciate it. and what is lite on's buffer? and why is 16mb on mitsumi's so great?

LG's are good drives! I have the LG GCE-8160B and it has worked flawlessly for almost four months now. Although the prospect of getting a 32x Lite-on for $30 after MIR at Staples next week is mighty tempting...

Thx for the reply mystic. I really ought to buy a copy of Easy Creator for the wife, I get frustrated trying to go through the steps of converting MP3-------WAV then drag and burn to her.
Heh.
I've used Nero my fav for several years now after I stopped doing a lot of music.

Every 32x CenDyne rebadged drive come with the Nero Burning Rom sortware. The reviews of the Lite-on and Mitsumi 32x drives are posted at the beginning of this thread.
