btw buffers for early drives had 2mb or 4mb buffer, this one has got 16!!!

have other 24x or ~40x drives also got such large buffers?

I belive that the Mitsumi (not all models) is the only CD-RW drive with a 16MB buffer, most CD-RWs only have a 2MB to 8MB buffer.

I have the Lite-on 32x Drive (Cendyne) and it is great!! Very quiet, fast and a 2mb buffer. The Nero software is keyed to work only with this burner. In otherwords, it will not work with any other burner, only the one it comes with. I have burned about 50 cds without even one coaster. I have checked my Staples and they have several of these in stock. Iam definately going to get another one this Sunday.

I already have a lite-on 24x drive and it works good...but at this price heck i will get one of this one also...

Geez, I hate people that never read the threads and start asking for help.

If you bothered to read the title, you will see the deal isn't available till 5-19. Meaning the rebate will NOT show up or even WORK until 5-19 or possibly 1 or 2 days before.

Have you even bothered to do a google search for staples coupons? Geez, its not that hard to find... Not to mentions theres tons of hints of where to find these all over the hot deals forum.

Based on last weeks $20 Staples/CenDyne CD-RW rebate address (Mc Allen TX), the rebate was processed by RebateHQ.com/Parago the same company that processed the OfficeMax/CenDyne CD-RW rebates, but unless the rebate said one rebate per year or something like that, I would say the Staples rebate offer would be consider a different rebate offer from the OfficeMax/CenDyne rebates.

Staples rebates USE to be bullet proof. But make sure you make back-ups to ALL your UPC's and reciepts and Rebate forms. I was told once there was never a rebate on product XYZ, so not only did I have to send them a copy of the UPC and reciept, but a copy of the rebate form.


SO BE CAREFUL AND BACKUP EVERYTHING. Staples Rebates are stilll not as BAD as BestButs(don't ask ) But you might have to do some calling or emailing to get your staples rebate NOW. They used to be the best but have dropped a little. Others have also made the same comment as I, so I know I am not the only one.

Has anyone seen a Mitsumi drive or are they the stuff dreams are made of? I live in SoCal and have visited at least 6 different Staples, OfficeMax, and Circuit City stores; given that each store has had a minimum of two units, I have yet to see the correct SN or buffer size.

I feel like I'm looking for the pot of gold at the end of the office superstore rainbow...

I got a Mitsumi last week. It's excellent. It's fast, quiet and reliable. Burned like 20 CDs on Saturday...no coasters...average time 3:43. That's on 16x rated media I might add. Plus it's got the door that folds down as the tray slides out. I dig that. The only thing that bugs me is that the light stays on whenever there's a CD in it, regardless of whether or not you're accessing it. Great drive. Go to another town and look for it there.

Yeah i saw that from another post here and at FW....but i really can't justify having that much waiting in rebates...already over the $100 limit the wife has imposed on my hotdeals...:sigh:

Ok, I am just about ready to do the Ferengi thing on this drive. I will buy it today with a 20 off 100 coupon and return it on Sunday so that I can get the qualifying date on the rebate receipt. Chances are better that they will give me the 20 off when they think there is no rebate.
