From what i've read about the AIW 9800, is that it IS a pro.....there is no other version of the AIW 9800, they are all PROs

my question is, is it possible to run dual monitors from this? I want to hook it up to my Projector and my Monitor having both display the same image. Maybe at different resolutions is possible. Does anyone have experience doing this, and if so , with which card?

thanks

does it have dvi?

edit: I know in the picture is has DVI, and the description says DVI, but in reality, many people have ordered these cards in the past to find out it was some sort of 9800 AIW with a VGA plug instead

ATI Web site has no mention of AIW 9800 (non-pro) model. I also would think that you do not get any remote, drivers, cables etc. with the "white box" version. Still a very good price.

Actually Fry's (B&M of Outpost) has been selling OEM vanilla 9800 AIW's for a while now, so they do exist. I think they only have standard VGA ports as well, no DVI.

I bought one of these last week when it was $159. Only vga out with the breakout box and nothing else comes with it. No remote or DVI. Returned it because I wanted the remote and dvi

I wonder then how they can get away with this description of the (non-pro) 9800:
Display support:

* One display (VGA or DVI) simultaneously connected with a TV or VCR
* YPrPb output adapter
And what is also troubling is that a "larger view" of the card returns a 404. So how can we tell if there is no representational picture associated with this product.

Dammit... I'm really behind the times now... What's better, a 9800NP, or 9600XT? ATI's number make less sense than AMDs...

The 9800NP is better. Twice as many texturing units and far more memory bandwidth.

The 9600XT AIW (which can be found here, retail package, for ~$150, after $50 MIR) has VGA (no DVI), and includes the remote control. Slower (for gaming, 3D) than a 9800 AIW, but better other features.
Newegg has it for $195.00:

Didn't know if this was hot or not, since I couldn't find any info. on it and I didn't have first hand experience. Thought it might be though, considering the retail AIW 9800 pro costs a $100 more elsewhere. Oh well, depends on what your needs our at the moment.

Edit: I didn't buy one though, cause I'm broke lol....

THIS WHITE BOX CARD SUCKS!!!!!

Last time when this topic came up, I called Fry's about 4 times and got 4 entirely different answers about the card. After I went into the store to have a look for myself, I find out that the card is similar to the 9800, but not quite the 9800 PRO. It didn't even have DVI (which the jackasses at Fry's told me it did)...

dammit... I was so close to jumping on this too... can you return outpost.com purchases to fry's? or do you have to mail it back?

Having purchased this same card (for a bit more than frys grrrrrr) I can attest to it being a "non-pro")
It comes with the drivers disk, manual, cables etc. Only thing it does not have that a regular retail AIW has is the included remote. I contacted ATI and was informed that the white box version does not include the remote and I would need to purchase it seperately.
Works like a champ. Currently running Omega drivers on it at stock speeds and no artifacts or errors in EQ with almost everything on.
Doom 3 only clocks it as a medium performance card however so you may need to tweak the vid settings a bit.

i bought one @ my local frys, it comes with the breakout box, Svideo cable, and that yellow cable thingy. Also, I noticed the memory on my card has Samsung 2.8ns memory, so maybe you can even flash it to Pro.

I wouldn't say cold, just not as hot. Still a good price considering a non aiw 9800 is around this price.
