Explain why? I'm not being argumentative. I really want to know what the justification would be. Why would this be in violation of anything. I agree it's like a sweepstakes/raffle/lottery but why is it not just good marketing? What's the difference between this and the 1 millionth customer who gets their free order, or product? Is that a special taxation law as well? I know if you cannot give a gift to someone or sell someone something for well under its value but that's for large sums I think well over 10k? It's to prevent people from selling someone a house for $1. The seller/buyer has to pay taxes on fair market value of the house, not the sale value if it is extremely disproportionate. I don't remember.

The poster above you basically made my point. The entire purpose of Bag Of Crap and the reason why it is successful is that it is designed to get people to buy crap with the hopes of getting something other than crap. This is just like a sweepstakes where they want you to buy crap (e.g., magazines) to increase your chances to win not crap (e.g., $1 million). Those sweepstakes are regulated, and as you are probably aware, they have to have the whole "no purchase necessary" deal where you can send in and get your chance for free. Woot has apparently tried to get around the sweepstakes rules by changing the game slightly by not letting you know what even the crap will be. This makes it worse, not better, and it would surprise me if the sweepstakes laws could be so easily avoided.

Had my laptop and firefox + Chrome + Wootalyzer going on my desktop. Started refreshing at 11:59pm and Wootalyzer popped up and went to the order page. Took forever to load so I went back to Chrome and hit the "I Want One" button. Order page took a while to load on Chrome, entered my CVT code, hit enter, waited, hit the big Buy It button and it went to Server too Busy Got all said but kept hitting refresh.

Had a buddy I told about Woot call and tell me he got a BOC

Went to my order page and it says I have 1 Random Crap on 12/25/08 I just got done dancing around the house and calling all my friends/family.
