not the answer you're looking for, but quite honestly, i'd suggest you skip the disc/tape media camcorders alltogether and get yourself a nice jvc everio with the hard drives. that way you don't have to waste time fumbling with media when you're trying to record those precious moments.

i've been using one for the last 14 months with my little one and i think its the slickest thing since sliced bread.

they do cost a little more then the one above. so if you're on a tight budget then ignore my comments.

I really don't know about the Toshiba, but from my own experience if you get the Panasonic and use these settings, you will be blown away.
