C-ya folks there, I'm headed out!

[edit]

With the added caveat that *this* year I have to catch a flight at 1! haha

My plan is to show up at about that time (to get the Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV for $480 and, if available, the Hewlett-Packard Pavilion Notebook for $380). But, a couple of the local salespeople told me that the lines start forming at about 8 PM on Thanksgiving Day! I am hoping those will be much younger people, looking for cheaper stuff.

Since I am a perfect insomniac, I have no problems staying the night awake. But, the boredom of hanging out in front of a store on a cold curb will kill me.

What would be a good way to keep oneself occupied (while waiting in line)?

I want the Westinghouse monitor... but not bad enough to stay in line at night. I'll just walk in tomorrow at around 8-9 and see what's up.

I just clicked on my first link, first line, and it's the first item listed.
I drove past my BB over an hour ago, there were about 30 people in line.

Take a book or an audio book. I am taking my cousin to keep me occupied. I might take up smoking or something to keep myself occupied, too/.

OK. I decided to give up on this one. Not worth the hassle. Instead, I will show up Microcenter at the time the store opens, which is one hour later (at 6:00 AM) than Best Buy (5:00 AM) and try to get the 42" LCD HDTV for $800 (after a $200 rebate). Trustworthy sources say it is a Syntax Olevia 42" 542I. And they have "hundreds," according to one report here on another thread, based on a conversation with a store manager.

So, bye bye Best Buy, for this year's BF.

Just got back from BB here in Portland Oregon. It's raining outside the end of the line is just under the edge of the store cover. I don't mind a little cold weather but the rain is going to be unbearable. It's going to be wet and I have no desire to hang out in the store front with what looks like most teenage/early twenty crowds. I know my brother and friend who was going to come in little later will thank me for not putting them through this.

I guess I'll run over ealy in the morning and try and score one of those cheap Toshiba laptops. Too damn cold outside to go too early. Although a little birdie just called me and told me there were already a few losers standing outside BB right now

Probaby won't be able to get a laptop but oh well, not that big of a deal. Probably pick up a cheap Sandisk 1GB MP3 player or the 2GB Sansa 250.

Anyone ever find out of the processor is upgradable on teh Laptop? Also how much mem can it hold?

best buy in lawrence already has 50+ people in line.. 60 degree november weather in kansas does not help my chances.

I'm going to show up at 2ish and see if i have a chance at anything.

I'm looking for the 32Inch lcd, $200.00 computer, and a few other small things.

Haha, I found wifi in line here at Best Buy. There's at least 40 people here now, I'm number 15.

I just wished it wasn't pouring.

Went by BB in Fairview Hts IL at 9:30 and there were about 60 with a lot of people arriving. 8 hours before they open's probably too late to get the 32" or the 22" my friend wanted. CC had 20-30, but American's has the same Syntax model for the same price might be worth a shot.

I checked the Rockford, IL store around 8:00 and the line was winding around the store, I've been by this store on BF the last few years and it has never had a line this long until 2-3 in the morning.

There's a half a dozen canopies setup albeit they were leaking for a while so I had to just sit here. It stopped raining now. (thank goodness)

At least a hundred people here in NY. I don't understand what the people at the end of the line think they'll get. There's no way those laptops or computers will last that long. At least I don't think.

There is at least 150 people at my local Best Buy. I drove past Wal-Mart and they only had about 20.

At 1:00 AM the line wrapped around the store and to the street behind it. Must be 300 people in line. BB doesn't open for 4 more hours. I hope they get what they want. Staples had about 6 people, haha.

I drove past BB at 1:00pm on my way to turkey dinner at the folks. Already 10-15 people in line at that time here. That's when I decided I'm not getting the Panny plasma.
