Wow. What a hassle staying there all night. Not for me. It's 3:20AM here and I'm thinking of just going to bed and shopping around 10AM.

I went there at 6 am this morning and there was still a huge bloody line to get in. An hour after the store opens and a 3 block line to get in. People are nuts.

I haven't heard any reports of people getting the laptops. Are there at least 18 per store as the ad says?

I went at 9pm and got the $380 HP. There were easily 80 people in front of me, and it only got worse since people kept joining their friends/family. There were a few times a van pulled up and 6 people joined the line, all the way up until 4. Some people towards the front had a generator and a tv, playing games all night. The whole scene was pretty ridiculous.

How did I get a laptop? I knew I was completely screwed as soon as I got there. I asked the first few people what they were getting, all said laptops (the first guy said both laptops, or at least 2 of the kinds they had). I started to walk away, ready to leave, but I went back. I figured he was buying them to sell, might as well toss an offer. He wasnt interested but guy #4 said he'd do it for $75 over. Its not quite as nice as $380 but its not too bad either. Still had to wait outside with my sister, who ended up getting a TV.

There were exactly 10 $380 laptops FWIW, and they were gone after 10 people. The people at the front of the line all had a stack of tickets for anything and everything. Oddly enough the 32 (?) and 42" flatscreens made it back to us, and there were still 10 of those left. I doubt I'll ever go that early again. To get a big discount item you pretty much need to be there at 4pm the day before, maybe even sooner. I'll just do overtime at work and make up whatever I would have saved.

What an insane morning. Got to the San Antonio North Rim Best Buy at 4am and the line was snaked around 2 corners of the store. Easilty 1,500+ people.

Needless to say, any HOT items were long gone. I picked up a gang of DVDs and a Linksys router...all for $1 given the Best Buy Bucks I had to burn.

To recap, I probably will not get up for Best Buy early next year. Better to hit one of the less known retails instead, IMO.

Well that was less painful than last year. In and out in less than 40 minutes FTW!

Exactly 10 units. I'll bet the 11th guy must be little frustrated if not mad about not getting a cheap laptop. "Sorry, maybe next year... NOT!"

I went in at a little after 7pm. The only thing sold out by the time they came to me was the HP lappy. Took home the tohisba lappy, 32 westie and 42 plasma alond with other assorted stuff. They had enough of the 15" advents that they didn't give enough of the ticket slips away outside. Jsut about all other limited count items were indeed limited. Line outside almost wasn't as bad as line inside; they had one register area set up for the laptops and they kept crashing that it was about 2 hours before the first laptop was rung up.

BSOD on the register, oh joy.

GF got to Best Buy at 3:30am this morning and was not able to get neither the Toshiba or HP laptop. They still has 2 plasma tickets left but passed on that deal. Oh well, just wait for another laptop deal to come around.

A little BTW for the future, even if you don't get there when the line starts and best buy decides to run the unadvertised/web only things again don't be so worried about them running out. People were going for the 32 westie and HP lappy but virtually left the panny plasma and toshiba lappy alone cause they hadn't read about it yet.

Another factor is people are less like to buy a big-ticket item just because it's a good deal. I'm sure some of the early birds have time to waste for a reason

My time is worth more than saving some money (what, about $250? PHHHH) on a laptop. People are nuts. In the weeks to come before christmas there will be plenty of hot deals, that DONT involve sitting at best buy for over twelve hours -.-

For what it's worth, the Southlands BB in the Denver area had 191 of the 42" Panasonic plasmas left at 9am. There were none in store, but they were selling out of the warehouse. I had the option of picking it up myself, but they're going to drop it off at the store after 5pm tonight, so I figured I could wait.

The laptops were gone before the doors opened (they handed out tickets to the guys in line).

If you're looking for the TV, it's not too late.

I went in at 9:30 AM and came out with a Canon MP160 multiprinter for 19.99- 70 dollars off. I am happy about that.

Yea, that is what two other people in line told me also! It was also the reason I chose to hit that location. Guess a bunch of other peeps were thinking the same thing.

Well I drove by my local BB yesterday at 5pm and there were already people in line so I hopped in with nothing but a coat. I was 11th. Later My dad dropped my borther, two chairs, sleeping bags, food, drink, and books off. By 1am half the parking lot was full and the line was about 220 people deep and growing by the hour. I snagged both the Toshiba and the HP laptops. The HP(DV6000t w/ BB numbering) is for a friend(she fronted the cash for it) and I must say if I had to do it over again I would have gotten two HPs(using my brother) in a heartbeat, no question about it. The build quality is better, the finger print finish looks amazing, Media Center, its a widescreen with brightview, and came with a Lightscribe dvd player/writer. I did not have a chance to boot the Toshiba yet(put away so I would have something under the tree) but I did take it out and look at it. Just from looking at it the build quality leaves something to be desired.

I went over this afternoon and picked up a $2GB Sansa 250 Rapsody for $99 and a Sandisk Cruzer 2GB USB memory stick for $29. Not sure if I'm keeping or not.

By the way, anyone know how the Rapsody differes from the regular E250?

Got the Samsung 19" Widescreen 931BW.

I can not believe how bright this is and how vibrant the colors are. If I had another person with me who didn't want one of these, I would've gotten two of them side-by-side.

Drove by our BB at 5 a.m. but the bazillion people outside was a bad sign.

I drove on to the nearest military base and walked into the exchange and saw the exact Panasonic plasma for $1599. They were issuing 10% off coupons up to $50 off too, so I pricematched the TV against BB and bought it for $949.00 (no tax)

Now I need a nice stand and HDMI cable, any recommendations?
