update: Seems like a lot of stores are changing the price tags. Try using the scan of the price tag I put up to get a PM at BB, CC, or CompUSA; that's worked for a bunch of people so far. Now if only someone else will host that scan...HERE. The store with this tag is the Sugarland, Texas store.

First hot deal post, so go easy on me.

Deal at Best Buy is $69.99 - $40 MIR = $29.99 but Best Buy sold out in my area .

Here's the interesting part: I just picked up a CompUSA ad and they're selling this WD 60gb drive for $69.99 ($109.99 - $10 IR - $30 mfr. MIR).

PM at Compusa to the BB price of $69.99 and take the $30 MIR making it $39.99.
I'm going back out in a bit to try this...

edit: PM at CompUSA Worked! $70 with a $30 MIR from WD = $40 for a 60GB 7200rpm HD! Woohoo!

Not bad deal, Thank you.

EDIT:
Wait though it's $69.99 @ Best Buy BUT you have a $40 MIR making it $29.99, so why not pay the same and mail it that rebate?

Does Best Buy really sell the Hard Drive for $39.99 after rebate? The ad. shows the WD 40GB as being $39.99 after rebate not the 60GB. Can anyone confirm that they have also seen the shelf tag at Best Buy. Because even $40 after rebate is a good deal for this hard drive, plus you could slap on one of the 10% off coupons.

Dude, I just called the store in my area and it's the normal price of $114.99. I don't understand how your store has a different price. I thought their sales were usually nation wide.

Just picked one up as well at BB

$70 - 10% coupon from old magazine(newbie cashier took $10 off instead) - $40 rebate = $20 + tax

Thanks duuuma!

man i'm a dumbass....i hope nobody did anything with those few digits!! :|

anyway, the reason I PM'd to CompUSA is b/c of my Best Buy sold out. So here's what eventually happened for me...

1. Saw it at Best Buy for $70 - $40 MIR, but sold out, booooo...
2. Went to Circuit City to buy with 110% pricematch, got it for $67, but then I returned it when I....
3. Saw it at CompUSA for $110 - $10 IR - $30 MIR, so I PM'd to Best Buy's $70 and am using the $30 MIR for $40 total for a 60GB drive!

Not bad since I planned on buying a 40GB from newegg for $79....thanks for the help with my cc info guys!

edit: I edited the title of my post to reflect the Best Buy/CompUSA deal

Has anyone figured out why it shows $114.99 on the BB website? Regardless, the website shows "Sorry, no longer taking orders for this item. Not available for store pickup."

I wonder if this is an error on their part. The $40 MIR sure seems like the deal for the 40GB that was in the ad and on their website. So, are you positive that the rebate is going to fly? What does it say on the rebate printout? I'm going to run to BB at lunch and see what I can see.

All 'Not available for store pickup' means is you can't order it online and pck it up in store. This does not necessarily reflect a lack of stock in the stores but that the website won't be taking any orders of any kind for it.

Cary, NC has them, but you have to go over by the "installation" area to find them. Shelf tag was identical to the one posted here. Drive rings up for $114, but the cashier adjusted with NO hassle.

Thanks duuuma!

Not too sure about the rebate from Best Buy, but it'll most likely print out at the register. They completely sold out at my store and in the general Houston area, so I'm guess a lot of folks already figured this deal out. CompUSA would be the second best option for only 10 bucks more. Only BB with it around here was at Texas A&M, over an hour away.

My current situation:

Called first lcoal bestbuy. Guy said he has teh drive but there's no MIR. I didn't even bother asking him price. HE then tells me that some bestbuys have 'secret shoppers' (?) where certian stores get mail inrebates as needed. I think he was full of it. Chose not to continue conversation.

Second local bestbuy. Guy said he has 19 in stock Also tells me it's 115 but that it does have a 40 Bestbuy MIR. So I tell him I ahve a tag from another store that lists it at 69.99. HE told me someone already called htis morning about the same thing and asked if my tag was from texas (?). I told him I had no idea what store it was from (they can prob tell from the tag anyways). HE says he will PM to the tag if I bring it in. So I can get it at that BB for the 70-the MIR.

Should mention you have a shelf tag scan and they might adjust for you. Don't be surprised if a store tells you they have no MIR either.

hopefully the print of my scan will work... The guys at big wallet seem to be eating this one up. It seems that some Best Buys have these drives but are hiding them? Here's what FW'ers have been saying...

"day before yesterday when I went to get my 100GB drives from Best Buy, I noticed a lot of 60GB drives on the shelf and behind the customer service counter up on a rack. So def. check behind the counters at Best Buy if you can't find them on the shelves. "

"just got back and can confirm. $69.99 w/ $40 rebate. The stack of HD's was hidden behind the register in the tech department. "

edit: It also looks like this deal might be dying as best buy's are selling these at $115 again. Try to price adjust with the shelf tag I suppose...

Just got back from Maple Grove, MN store. They had one drive left on the shelf but no price tag. I grabbed it and hurried over to the register, in case they were in the process of changing the price, rang up $114. Maybe I should swing by again and try to get them to PM the shelf tag scan, hmmm. Of course, now there are no more left on the shelf.

BTW: duuuma, how'd you happen to get the shelf tag? Did you have them make you a copy? I guess you could have *borrowed* it but I was just curious as to how you had the forsight to take it.
